Measurement, fault recording, and power quality: data foundation for troubleshooting
REF630 continuously measures phase current, zero sequence current, phase voltage or line voltage, zero sequence voltage, and calculates positive sequence, negative sequence, zero sequence components, active/reactive/apparent power, power factor, frequency, power demand, and bidirectional electrical energy. The device can also calculate the feeder temperature and the imbalance value based on the ratio of negative sequence and positive sequence currents. The fault location function is based on impedance measurement and can locate short-circuit faults in radial distribution systems, as well as ground faults in directly grounded or low impedance grounded networks; In a neutral ungrounded system, when the amplitude of the fault current is greater than or equal to the load current, it can also be used for locating the grounding fault point.
Fault recording can record 40 analog channels and 64 switch channels. Analog channels can record current and voltage waveforms, while switch channels can record protection start, action, external lockout, or control signals. The device can store up to 100 fault waveforms, and the waveform information is stored in non-volatile memory. Event records can store 1000 time stamped events, and fault reports include pre fault amplitude, phase angle, fault amplitude, and fault phase angle. When troubleshooting on site, the fault report and waveform recording should be read first, and then the sequence of protective actions should be determined based on the event records. If you only see the 'protective action' and do not know which action it is, you should check the event records and GOOSE signal mapping. In terms of power quality, the device can monitor voltage fluctuations, voltage imbalances, current harmonics, voltage harmonics, as well as total harmonic distortion and total demand distortion. The harmonic components can be monitored up to 20 times, making it suitable for troubleshooting harmonic pollution, voltage sag, and three-phase imbalance problems.
Communication networking: IEC 61850, DNP3, and 103 protocols
REF630 supports IEC 61850, DNP3 TCP/IP, and IEC 60870-5-103. IEC 61850 supports GOOSE horizontal communication, with a total GOOSE transmission time of no more than 3ms, and can be used to protect inter trip, interlocking, and analog transmission. When the device adopts IEC 61850, it can communicate with 5 clients simultaneously; DNP3 can send events to 4 different master stations; The 103 protocol can be connected to a master station in a star network. The communication interfaces include RJ-45 10/100BASE-TX, multimode fiber LC 100BASE-FX, and fiber ST interfaces or plastic fiber bayonet interfaces for the 103 protocol. Support SNTP, DNP3, and IRIG-B in terms of timing, with a time scale resolution of up to 1ms; 103 serial communication has a time scale resolution of 10ms.
On site communication troubleshooting should be carried out in layers: first check the physical layer, including network cables, optical fibers, switch ports, and communication module indicator lights; Recheck the link layer, including IP address, subnet, VLAN, and redundant configuration; Finally, check the application layer, including the IEC 61850 dataset, GOOSE subscription, DNP3 point table, and 103 information body. If GOOSE is disconnected, do not only restart the device, but also confirm the subscription relationship first APPID、 Dataset and switch configuration. For projects that require integration with COM600, MicroSCADA Pro, RTU560, or System 800xA, the connection package version and communication point table should be checked in advance.
Input/Output and Expansion: Hardware Checklist that must be verified before replacement
REF630 provides three phase current inputs and one or two zero sequence current inputs based on hardware configuration. The zero sequence current input can be selected as 1/5A or 0.1/0.5A, the latter of which is commonly used for sensitive grounding protection and magnetic balance current transformer applications. The device also includes three phase voltage inputs and one zero sequence voltage input, with voltage ratings including 100V, 110V, 115V, and 120V. Depending on the configuration, a dedicated voltage input for synchronous detection can also be provided. The threshold value for switch input can be set by channel within the range of 15... 221V DC, and the rated voltage for switch input is 24... 250V DC.
The device can be equipped with an optional RTD/mA module, providing 8 RTD/mA inputs and 4 mA outputs, which can be used for environmental temperature, external analog quantities, or resistance/voltage sensor inputs; MA output can send measured or calculated values to other devices. The 4U and 6U chassis can be configured with different numbers of BIO modules. The 4U chassis can choose one or two switch I/O modules, while the 6U chassis can choose up to four. When replacing or expanding, the analog input configuration, BIO options, RTD/mA module, communication module, power supply type, and installation accessories should be checked. The order number is generated by hardware and software modules, and the standard configuration determines the I/O module and optional board. Only looking at "REF630" without checking the order number can easily result in CT/VT input, communication interface, or I/O quantity mismatch.
