On site debugging and common troubleshooting
1. Check before powering on. Check the power type and voltage range, confirm that the auxiliary power circuit has air switch isolation, CT secondary must not be open circuited, VT secondary must not be short circuited, and grounding and shielding are reliable. Verify that the CT/VT ratio, zero sequence CT ratio, and device parameters are consistent. For extractable units, check the CT automatic short-circuit contacts.
2. Self check alarm. The device self-test system continuously monitors the status of hardware and software, and will issue an alarm and save self-test events if any abnormalities are detected. Alarm codes, LED status, and event records should be recorded first, and then the power supply, communication module, I/O module, and firmware versions should be checked. Do not directly reset and lose fault information.
3. VT fuse disconnection monitoring. This function detects voltage measurement circuit faults through negative sequence component algorithm or voltage/current difference algorithm, alarms and locks the voltage dependent protection after action to prevent misoperation. If the VT fuse is broken, check the VT secondary fuse, air switch, voltage terminal, and polarity.
4. Current circuit monitoring. This function compares three-phase current with reference current and detects CT secondary circuit faults. If there is an abnormality in the current circuit, the CT terminal, short circuiting piece, transformer ratio, and secondary load should be checked.
5. Control circuit and trip circuit monitoring. Control circuit monitoring continuously checks the effectiveness and operability of the control circuit, and can monitor the circuit status and control voltage when the circuit breaker is closed and opened. When the trip circuit is abnormal, the trip coil, auxiliary contacts, terminal block, fuse, and control voltage should be checked; The double trip coils should be verified separately.
6. Unable to reset after protective action. Check the trip hold, circuit breaker mechanism, auxiliary contacts, closing interlock, and reclosing logic. If the protection has been reset but the circuit breaker cannot be closed, the control circuit and interlocking conditions should be checked, and repeated forced closing should be avoided.
7. The reclosing was unsuccessful. Verify the reclosing method, reclosing frequency, reclosing delay, synchronization conditions, and circuit breaker energy storage status. If it coincides with a permanent fault, the protection will trip again, and it should be combined with waveform recording to determine whether it is an instantaneous fault or a permanent fault.
8. There is a large error in distance protection or fault location. Verify the impedance parameters of the circuit, CT/VT ratio, zero sequence compensation coefficient, fault type, and directional mode. The accuracy of fault location is affected by fault resistance, power system, and line parameters, and the estimated distance cannot be used as an absolute position.
Replacement and maintenance suggestions
When replacing REF630 or using it for old cabinet renovation, it is recommended to establish a four-dimensional checklist of "Mechanical Electrical Communication Document". Mechanical verification of 4U/6U chassis size, depth, panel openings, embedded/semi embedded/screen mounted/19 inch installation methods, and split HMI cable length; Verify CT/VT or sensor input, zero sequence current input, switch quantity I/O, RTD/mA module, power supply type, and trip circuit in terms of electrical aspects; Verify IEC 61850, DNP3, 103 interfaces, fiber optic/electrical ports, and redundancy methods in terms of communication; Verify the order number, connection package version, wiring diagram, fixed value sheet, and communication point table in terms of documentation.
When migrating parameters, do not only migrate protection settings. Control logic, GOOSE configuration, LED mapping, event recording settings, fault recording triggering conditions, and communication parameters should be migrated simultaneously. Complete secondary injection test, trip transmission, interlock test, communication point-to-point test, and background signal verification before commissioning. Regularly check self inspection records, VT fuse breakage alarms, current circuit monitoring, control circuit monitoring, circuit breaker status monitoring, and event recording during the maintenance cycle, and arrange maintenance based on the number of circuit breaker actions, accumulated energy, and fault current level.
The value of ABB REF630 lies in integrating feeder protection, control, measurement, waveform recording, and communication into a configurable platform. If on-site engineers can string "standard configuration verification protection setting control interlocking communication networking recording analysis" into a closed loop, it can shorten power outage time in feeder line modification, fault diagnosis, and daily operation and maintenance, and improve the observability and maintainability of the distribution system.
