4.2 Anti vibration and anti impact

Can withstand 5 Grms vibration (random vibration, 5~500 Hz) and 50 G half sine shock (11 ms duration). This indicator meets the requirements of vehicle and industrial grade, and is suitable for installation on forklifts, mobile robots, or rail vehicles.

4.3 Power Input

Supports 6V~36V DC wide voltage input, compatible with common 12V/24V car batteries, industrial power adapters, and lead-acid batteries. Built in overvoltage and reverse protection to ensure that the device is not damaged during power fluctuations.

4.4 Fanless and wireless cable structure

The whole machine uses an aluminum alloy heat dissipation shell, and the heat from the CPU is conducted to the heat dissipation fins of the shell through thermal pads or heat pipes. Internally, board to board connectors are used to prevent cables from falling off due to vibration, greatly improving the mean time between failures (MTBF).

Scalability and internal interfaces

5.1 Mini PCIe slot+USIM card holder

Onboard 1 Mini PCIe full card slot, supports PCIe 1.0a and USB 2.0 signals, can be installed with:

WiFi/Bluetooth module (USB interface).

3G/4G LTE cellular module (USB or PCIe), combined with a USIM card holder to achieve wireless wide area network communication.

MSATA solid-state drive (SATA signal), expanding local storage capacity.

Attention: If using mSATA, it is necessary to confirm BIOS support and boot from the disk.

5.2 CompactFlash Slot

External pluggable CF card slot, supporting CF Type I/II, industrial grade CF cards are commonly used as system disks or data storage for easy replacement and maintenance.

5.3 Other internal interfaces

It may include a SATA interface (used internally to connect 2.5-inch hard drives, but not explicitly stated in the manual, it is recommended to refer to the complete user manual). The MXE-1000 series usually supports one 2.5-inch SATA hard drive (internal installation), but space limitations should be noted.


Software and operating system support

6.1 Officially supported operating systems

Windows CE 6.0, Windows XP, Windows XP Embedded, Windows 7 (32-bit).

Linux: Provide specific distributions on demand (such as Fedora, Ubuntu, etc., consult Linghua).

6.2 Driver and Development Support

Provide complete onboard device drivers (chipset, network card, graphics card, serial port, FireWire, etc.) and support commonly used development environments (Visual Studio, Eclipse). For Windows 7, it should be noted that the Atom N270 integrated graphics card driver only supports Win7 32-bit, and 64 bit may not be compatible.

6.3 Software considerations for applicable scenarios

If used for video surveillance, VMS software such as Milestone and AXIS can be selected, or OpenCV can be used for custom visual processing.

Serial communication programs can use C/C++, Python's pyserial, or NET Serial Port class.


Model comparison and selection decision matrix

Recommended Application Scenarios for Serial Port Configuration with 1394b Gigabit Ethernet Ports

MXE-1005 2 without 4 × RS-232 (2 configurable 422/485) universal industrial control, data acquisition, protocol conversion gateway

MXE-1010 2 is basically the same as MXE-1005 (there may be differences in details, which need to be confirmed)

MXE-1020 3 2 with MXE-1005 machine vision (multi camera synchronization), advanced monitoring, and multi network redundancy

Selection suggestion:

If the application involves multiple FireWire cameras (such as PCB inspection, part positioning), MXE-1020 should be preferred, and its three network ports can also be connected to both PLC and upper computer simultaneously.

If it is only for ordinary serial port device control and Ethernet communication, MXE-1005 has the best cost-effectiveness.

If redundant networks are required (such as dual port binding), MXE-1005/1010 is sufficient.


System integration and installation precautions

8.1 Heat dissipation and installation direction

Although there is no fan design, it is still necessary to ensure that the heat sink of the casing has sufficient air convection. It is recommended to install vertically, so that the heat dissipation fins are longitudinal for natural convection. Avoid installing the equipment in a sealed and unventilated enclosure.

8.2 Power Wiring

Use the accompanying 3-pin DC power terminal (or 2-pin, depending on the model) to ensure correct polarity. The input voltage range is 6~36V, and 24V industrial standard is recommended for optimal efficiency.

8.3 Grounding and EMI

The chassis should be reliably grounded to suppress electromagnetic interference. There is a grounding screw on the shell, which must be connected to the system grounding.

8.4 CF Card and Mini PCIe Selection

It is recommended to use industrial grade SLC particles for CF cards to ensure write life.

The Mini PCIe module should pay attention to the card thickness (full height or half height), and the MXE-1000 supports full height cards.

8.5 Serial port configuration

RS-232/422/485 switching requires internal jumper or BIOS settings, please refer to the user manual for details. In RS-485 mode, a 120 Ω terminal resistor needs to be connected to the terminal device.
