Insert the LTE module into Slot 2 (CN16) at the same angle and fixed method as mSATA.
Connect the antenna feeder to the MAIN/AUX interface of the module (the antenna needs to be arranged in advance to the reserved hole on the front panel).
Important: Be careful when installing the module and do not damage the wafer cables (especially audio and expansion cables) on the motherboard. Before replacing the bottom cover, check if all cables are pressed down.
Power Design and Power Management
3.1 Wide voltage input terminal
MXE-210 adopts 3-pin pluggable terminals (GND, V -, V+):
Input range: 6V~36V DC, covering automotive (12V/24V), industrial (24V), and battery powered (6V) scenarios.
Polarity protection: The manual clearly warns that incorrect polarity may cause permanent damage. It is necessary to use a multimeter on site to confirm the output polarity of the adapter.
Power certification: A power supply that complies with LPS and SELV (IEC 60950-1) must be used, with a Tma not lower than 50 ° C.
3.2 Reference for power consumption measurement (24V power supply)
Power consumption under working conditions
Shutdown (S5) 3.6W
System idle (Windows desktop) 11.2W
Processor fully loaded (CPU 100%) 35.2W
Full system load (CPU+IO) 25W
Recommended power supply of 40W (considering high temperature derating)
Cooling strategy: The main heating element (CPU/PCH) is located on the left side and is cooled by contacting the housing through a thermal pad. Make sure to leave at least 5cm (2 inches) clearance at the top to maintain natural convection. The device supports a standard temperature range of 0-50 ° C, and the expansion model (with industrial grade storage) can reach -20~70 ° C. The MXE-212 super expansion version (with added heat sink) can also support -40~85 ° C, suitable for extreme cold or high temperature applications.

BIOS deep configuration and optimization
Enter BIOS: Press Del key during power on POST; Press F7 to enter the Boot Menu.
4.1 Main Menu
BIOS Information: Check the core version, firmware version, and motherboard version.
Board Information: Display serial number, production date, MAC address, and operation statistics - total running time, current running time, power on times, startup times, last startup reason (abnormal/normal), greatly facilitating on-site operation and maintenance.
4.2 Advanced Core Items
CPU Configuration
Active Processor Cores: can reduce the number of active cores and lower power consumption (all enabled by default).
Intel Virtualization Technology/VT-d: Enable hardware virtualization for container or virtual machine deployment (default enabled).
Turbo Mode: Enable burst frequency boost (default enabled).
Critical Trip Point/Passive Cooling Trip Point: Set the CPU overheat protection threshold, and if exceeded, the system will downshift or shut down.
Graphics Configuration
DVMT Pre Located/Total Gfx Mem: Adjust the size of the integrated graphics memory. If it is mainly used in console applications, it can be reduced to free up memory for the system.
Onboard Device Configuration (Key)
COM1 Control/COM2 Control: Independently select RS-232, RS-422, or RS-485 modes, without the need for jumpers, with pure software switching. This greatly facilitates on-site protocol adaptation.
HSUART: Enable/disable internal high-speed UART (disabled by default, occupying system resources when enabled).
LAN # 1/# 2 (Intel I210): Network ports can be disabled separately (for security isolation or power saving).
Serial Console Redirection
Supports redirecting BIOS POST information and operating system console to serial port terminals through COM1/COM2, suitable for headless system (no display) debugging.
Configurable baud rate (default 115200), data bits, stop bits, parity bits, flow control (hardware RTS/CTS), and terminal type (ANSI/VT100/VT-UTF8).
Advanced Power Management
State After G3: Configure the behavior after AC power failure recovery - S0 (automatic startup), S5 (keep shutdown), Last State (remember last state). Last State or S0 is often selected for rail transit scenarios.
RTC Wake system from S5: Timed wake-up function, supporting FixeTime or DynamicTime.
LAN # 1/# 2 Wake: Enable Wake on LAN (WoL) for remote boot maintenance.
USB Configuration
Support XHCI Hand off (to address compatibility with old OS), Mass Storage driver support, and timeout parameter tuning.
TPM Configuration
Built in TPM security chip, can be enabled/disabled, used for Windows BitLocker or Linux LUKS disk encryption.
Network Stack Configuration
Enable UEFI network stack to support PXE network boot (disabled by default).
System Management (SEMA Monitoring)
This is ADLINK's featured feature:
Temperatures: Real time reading of CPU temperature and board temperature (current, startup, minimum, maximum).
Power Consumption: Display the current input voltage, current, and power.
Flags: BMC status codes and exception records.
Power Up: Display the power on reset status of the watchdog.
Miscellaneous
OS Selection: Select Windows or Linux (affecting the loading behavior of ACPI tables and drivers).
4.3 Security
Administrator Password/User Password: Set the BIOS administrator/user password to prevent unauthorized modification.
