Chapter 4: BIOS Lecture: Customized Tuning Guide
NuPRO-E72 adopts AMI BIOS and provides rich configuration options. The following are several key configuration scenarios:
1. SATA mode and RAID settings
In "Advanced" ->"SATA Configuration", you can choose IDE, AHCI, or RAID mode. If RAID is enabled, the Intel Rapid Storage Technology driver needs to be loaded using the F6 method before installing the operating system. In AHCI mode, aggressive link power management can be enabled to save energy consumption.
2. Display output priority
In "Chipset" ->"Graphics and Memory Bridge Configuration", you can set the initial display device (IGD, PCI/IGD, PEG/IGD, etc.) and adjust the shared video memory size (32M/64M/128M). When supporting multi monitor output, "IGD Multi Monitor" needs to be enabled.
3. AMT remote management
Advanced "->" AMT Configuration "can enable/disable Intel AMT functionality and set WatchDog Timer, MEBx mode, etc. After activation, IT administrators can perform out of band management through the network, enabling remote restart or recovery even if the operating system crashes.
4. Power on recovery behavior
The "Restore on AC Power Loss" option in "Chipset" ->"PCH Bridge Configuration" can set the state after power failure recovery (shutdown, power on, or restore the last state), which is particularly important for unmanned sites.
5. Serial port redirection
Supports COM0/COM1 console redirection, making it easy to debug embedded operating systems through serial ports. The terminal type can be VT100/VT-UTF8/ANSI, with a maximum baud rate of 115200.
The BIOS also provides security settings (administrator/user password), boot sequence adjustment, and save/discard options upon exit, with an overall user-friendly interface and quick response.

Chapter 5: Power Consumption Measurement and Heat Dissipation Suggestions
The manual provides power consumption data for multiple processors, with testing environments including dual 8GB DDR3L memory, 320GB 2.5-inch hard drive, Windows 7 system, and a resolution of 1024x768. The following are typical values (with EIST/C-state enabled):
Xeon E3-1225 v3 (84W): idle about 27W, typical load about 62W, full load about 104W.
Xeon E3-1268L v3 (45W): idle about 13W, typical about 48.7W, full load about 64.4W.
Core i3-4330 (54W): idle about 13.1W, typical about 47.3W, fully loaded about 63W.
Celeron G1820 (53W): idle about 15.7W, typical about 47.3W, full load about 63W.
It can be seen that the low-power Xeon (E3-1268L v3) has significant advantages in energy efficiency and is suitable for enclosed fanless chassis. When designing heat dissipation, attention should be paid to the selection of CPU heat sinks (supporting LGA1150) and providing good chassis air ducts. The manual recommends using active cooling solutions such as Delta FHSA9025B-1225 and connecting CPU_SAN (FAN2) to achieve PWM speed regulation.
Chapter 6: Key Points for Installation and Driver Deployment
1. CPU and memory installation
The LGA1150 socket should be operated with caution: lift the pressure rod, open the carrier plate, align the CPU triangle mark with the Pin1 position of the socket, and lock it vertically after insertion. The memory slot adopts a double-sided buckle design to ensure that the memory module gap aligns with the slot protrusion and is evenly pressed in.
2. Jumper settings
Onboard JBAT1 (clear CMOS) and JBAT2 (clear RTC) jumpers, default 1-2 conductive, short circuit 2-3 to reset BIOS settings. The COM1 mode switch (SW13) is located on the back of the board, near the USB 3.0 interface, and is used to select RS-232 or RS-422/485 mode.
3. Driver installation sequence (taking Windows 7 64 bit as an example)
Suggest installing in the following order: chipset driver (Intel C226) → graphics card driver (HD Graphics) → network card driver (I217LM/I211) → management engine driver (ME) → USB 3.0 driver. All drivers are included in the accompanying All in One DVD and updated versions can also be downloaded from the official website.
4. Precautions
Upon initial startup, enter BIOS and check system time, memory capacity, SATA mode, etc. If using RAID, be sure to load the driver in advance; If using TPM, it needs to be enabled and initialized in the BIOS. After the system installation is completed, remote management and configuration can be performed through AMT or SEMA tools.
Chapter 7: Typical Application Scenarios
Machine vision inspection: The PCIe x16 slot can be connected to high-performance image acquisition cards or GPU acceleration cards, combined with CPU integrated display for multi-channel image processing, suitable for surface defect detection, positioning guidance, etc.
Motion control system: Connect multi axis motion control cards through PCIe x4 or PCI slots, use serial ports and DIO to communicate with servo drives and encoders, and achieve high-precision linkage.
Data acquisition and monitoring (SCADA): Rich USB and serial ports are used to connect various sensors, dual network ports achieve redundant network or protocol conversion, and RAID ensures data reliability.
