Jumper setting and CMOS clearing

4.1 CLRTC1 (Clear RTC RAM)

Default 1-2 short circuit. To clear CMOS (forgot password or overclocking failure), you need to:

Turn off the power and disconnect the power cord.

Remove the motherboard battery.

Move the jumper cap to position 2-3, hold for 5-10 seconds, and then move it back to position 1-2.

Reinstall the battery and power on, press Del to enter BIOS and reconfigure.

Warning: Do not place the jumper cap on 2-3 except to clear the CMOS, otherwise the system will not start.

4.2 KBPWR1 (keyboard power on)

2-3 default (+5VSB) supports keyboard wake-up, requiring a power supply to provide at least 1A standby current and enabling relevant options in BIOS. If not necessary, set 1-2 (+5V) off.

Practical suggestion: In industrial sites, if there are frequent power outages and automatic recovery is required, the "PWRON After PWR Fail" in the BIOS can be set to [On] or [Former Sts], and this jumper does not affect it.

Storage interface and SATA precautions

5.1 IDE Main Channel

Supports Ultra DMA 100/66, requires the use of an 80 core IDE cable (note that the 20th pin of the 40 pin interface is blocked to prevent reverse insertion).

Each channel supports Master/Slave, and if dual hard drives are installed, jumper wires need to be set. Recommend connecting the system disk to the Master of IDE1 (at the end of the blue interface).

5.2 SATA interface and mode settings

The Nanqiao ICH6 provides 4 SATA ports (red for SATA1/2 and black for SATA3/4). It is recommended to connect the red port to the boot disk.

Important system requirement: To use a SATA hard drive, Windows 2000 SP4 or Windows XP SP1 or above must be installed, otherwise it cannot be recognized.

On Chip Serial ATA "optional mode in BIOS:

Auto: Automatic configuration.

Combined Mode: Simultaneously using PATA and SATA, but with a total IDE channel limit of 2 (i.e. PATA master/slave+SATA master/slave).

Enhanced Mode: Allow up to 6 IDE devices (PATA+SATA), recommended for use on Windows XP and above.

SATA Only: Only SATA devices work.

If AHCI is enabled, press F6 to load the driver during OS installation; However, the AHCI option is not directly displayed in the BIOS mentioned in this manual (possibly in IDE simulation mode), please adjust according to the actual BIOS version.

Common faults: If the system cannot recognize the SATA hard drive, please check the power and data cables, and confirm in BIOS that the corresponding port is enabled and the mode is not Disabled.

Expansion slots and interrupt allocation

6.1 PCI and ISA shared

5 PCI slots and 2 ISA slots share IRQ resources, and the manual provides a detailed IRQ allocation table (INT A~H). For example:

PCI Slot 1 is shared with Onboard USB Controller 1.

If multiple devices that require exclusive interrupts are used simultaneously, manual adjustment (PCI PnP setting) or slot replacement through BIOS is required.

ISA devices: When IRQ is required, try to use unallocated interrupts (such as IRQ5, IRQ9, IRQ10, IRQ11) and avoid conflicts with PCI devices.

6.2 SDVO ADD2 slot (non PCIe x16)

Manual special correction: This slot is dedicated to SDVO daughter cards and is not PCI Express x16, so standard graphics cards cannot be installed. If you need a dedicated graphics card, please choose another motherboard or use a PCI graphics card (limited performance).

Engineering suggestion: If the system requires multiple external displays, DVI/HDMI can be output through the SDVO ADD2 card, but compatibility needs to be confirmed.

Power requirements and power consumption testing

7.1 Power Supply Connection

The motherboard needs to be connected to a 24 pin main power supply (EATXPWR1) and a 4-pin+12V auxiliary power supply (ATX12V1). One cannot be missing, otherwise it cannot be turned on.

It is recommended to use ATX 12V 2.0 standard power supply, with a rated power of not less than 350W and a+12V output of at least 15A (if using a 20 pin power supply, the+12V capability needs to be confirmed). The manual test configuration is Pentium 4 3.6GHz+4 × 512MB DDR2+SDVO card+2 IDE+1 SATA+2 optical drives, and 350W can pass the test.

7.2 Standby and wake-up

KBPWR jumper can be used in conjunction with BIOS to enable keyboard/mouse wake-up, requiring+5VSB to provide 1A.

Supports ACPIS1 (POS) and S3 (STR), which can be set through BIOS.

BIOS detailed settings and optimization

8.1 Basic Settings (Standard CMOS)

Automatically detect IDE devices, if not detected, manually enter parameters (C/H/S).

Soft drive type, Halt On (recommended "All, But Keyboard" to avoid keyboard loss causing downtime).

8.2 Advanced BIOS

CPU Feature: You can view CPU related information.

Hard Disk Boot Priority: Set the boot sequence for multiple hard drives, especially when there is a mix of PATA and SATA, which needs to be adjusted here.

Virus Warning: It is recommended to turn it off to avoid false alarms during system installation.

Hyper Reading: Press OS to turn on or off.

Quick POST: Enabling it can shorten the self-test time.

Security Option: Set the Setup password or system password.

8.3 Integrated Peripherals

On Chip Primary PCI IDE: Usually enabled.

On Chip Serial ATA: Select the mode based on the storage configuration. If only PATA is used, Disabled can be set to save resources.
