8.4 Power Management

Common troubleshooting

Fault 1: No display when powered on, CPU fan running

Check if the 4-pin+12V power supply is connected; Is the memory securely plugged in; Attempt to clear CMOS.

Confirm whether the CPU supports (such as Celeron D or Pentium 4 5xx/6xx series, which do not support Core architecture).

Fault 2: SATA hard drive cannot be recognized

Check if the SATA mode in BIOS is "Enhanced" or "Auto"; If it is "Combined", ensure that the hard drive is connected to SATA1/2 (red) and is the primary device.

To install Windows XP, you need to press F6 to load the driver in advance (if using a floppy disk), or use nLite integration.

Fault 3: ISA board cannot function properly

Check for IRQ conflicts and manually reserve IRQ for ISA in BIOS (possibly in PNP/PCI Configuration).

Some ISA cards require DMA, while ICH6 still supports ISA DMA (requires confirmation of DMA resource allocation in BIOS).

Fault 4: USB device is not available under DOS

Enable "USB Keyboard Support" and "USB Mouse Support" in Integrated Peripherals.

Fault 5: System restarts or crashes irregularly

Check the PC Health Status and observe whether the CPU temperature and voltage fluctuate; Replace the power supply or improve the heat dissipation of the chassis.

Reduce memory frequency (such as lowering 667 to 533) or adjust CAS latency.

Fault 6: Unable to wake up (unable to wake up after hibernation or standby)

Check if the power supply+5VSB is sufficient; Is the Wake Up setting in BIOS correct; Is the operating system driver installed properly.

Maintenance and Lifecycle Tips

I915GV-INA is based on the LGA775/DR2 platform, which is currently a mature (or even outdated) platform, but still has value for projects requiring ISA. Maintenance suggestion:

Regularly clean the radiator and fan to prevent dust from causing overheating.

Backup button battery (CR2032) to prevent loss of CMOS information.

If you need to upgrade the CPU, pay attention to the power consumption limit (the motherboard supports FMB mainstream/value specifications, but it is recommended not to exceed 95W TDP).

Due to Intel's cessation of production of related chipsets, spare parts need to be reserved in advance.
