In modern industrial automation systems, human-machine interaction terminals need to simultaneously meet high protection levels, flexible installation, long-distance signal transmission, and intuitive multi touch operation. The CP39xx series control panel launched by Beckhoff is designed specifically for this purpose. This series adopts an aluminum alloy shell and a full glass front panel, with an overall protection level of IP65 (dustproof, waterproof), suitable for harsh environments such as mechanical processing, food and beverage, logistics sorting, etc. CP39xx offers various sizes from 7 inches to 24 inches, supports landscape and portrait installation, and is equipped with a projected capacitive multi touch screen (PCT, supporting ten finger touch). According to different remote transmission technologies, CP39xx is divided into two sub versions: -0000 model adopts DVI Extended+USB Extended technology, with a maximum transmission distance of 50 meters; -The 0010 model adopts CP Link 4 technology, with a transmission distance of up to 100 meters, and can simultaneously transmit video, USB, and power through a single cable (One Cable Display Link) through the CU8803 transmission box. This article will provide a comprehensive technical analysis of the CP39xx series from the aspects of hardware structure, interface definition, mechanical installation, remote transmission principle, power and grounding, cable wiring, optional expansion, maintenance and cleaning, and troubleshooting, providing a detailed reference manual for system integration engineers and equipment maintenance personnel.
Product Overview and Model Differences
The CP39xx control panel is an industrial touch display designed by Beckhoff for supporting arm installation systems. It does not have a built-in computer and needs to be connected to an industrial PC or embedded controller through a remote interface. Its main characteristics include:
Display size and resolution (landscape/portrait optional):
7 inches (800 × 480, 5:3)
12 inches (800 × 600, 4:3)
12.1 inches (1280 × 800, 16:10)
15 inches (1024 × 768, 4:3)
15.6 inches (1366 × 768, 16:9)
18.5 inches (1366 × 768, 16:9)
19 inches (1280 × 1024, 5:4)
21.5 inches (1920 × 1080 Full HD, 16:9)
24 inches (1920 × 1080 Full HD, 16:9)
Touch technology: Projection Capacitive (PCT), supports multi finger (up to 10 fingers) operation, can still respond with gloves (suitable non hard particle gloves need to be used).
Shell: Aluminum alloy front panel, surface insulation, full glass coverage, IP65 overall protection.
Remote transmission technology:
CP39xx-0001: DVI Extended+USB Extended, via CU8801 transmitter box, up to 50 meters in length (using CAT5 cable).
CP39xx-0010:CP-Link 4, Based on HDBaseT technology, it can be transmitted through PCIe modules or CU8802/CU8803 transmission boxes, with a maximum length of 100 meters. Among them, CU8803 supports one wire communication (video, USB, 24V power cable).
Optional extensions:
Button extension (C9900-G02x or C9900-G05x): Add 10 or more physical buttons at the bottom of the panel to customize functions.
Toolboard: Used for placing keyboards, mice, or tools, with optional integrated USB interface (IP65).
Handle: Easy to transport.
Interface Explanation and Remote Transmission Technology
2.1 CP39xx-0000(DVI/USB Extended)
This model provides three interfaces on the connection block at the rear of the device (accessible by opening the cover when located inside the support arm adapter):
Power interface (X101): 4-pin M12 female socket, dual 24V/dual GND (redundant connection). The maximum load capacity of the plug is 16A, and it is recommended to use a 4 × 0.75 mm ² cable.
DVI Extended Input (X102): Dedicated digital video input, can travel up to 50 meters. The panel has a built-in signal recovery processor that can correct signal distortion after long-distance transmission. The PC end needs to be equipped with a CU8801 transmitter box (to convert DVI to DVI Extended signal).
USB Extended Input (X103): Used to connect the CU8801 transmitter box and achieve USB signal transmission up to 50 meters in length (non Ethernet, not accessible through switches). USB 2.0 speed (100 Mbit/s).
2.2 CP39xx-0010(CP-Link 4)
Power interface (X101): Same as -0000, but additional power supply is prohibited when using CU8803 transmitter box (see below for details).
CP Link 4-Input (X102): 8-pin M12 female socket, using HDBaseT technology, a single CAT5e/6 cable can simultaneously transmit DVI/DisplayPort, USB 2.0, and (optional) power, with a maximum length of 100 meters.
Connection scheme:
Direct connection: Install CP Link 4 PCIe modules (such as C9900-E...) on industrial PCs and connect them directly to the panel via CP Link 4 cables. At this time, the panel needs to be powered separately (Two Cable Display Link).
Through CU8802 transmission box: Connect CU8802 (DVI or DisplayPort+USB) to PC, and then connect the transmission box to the panel through CP Link 4 cable. The panel requires separate power supply (two cables).
