Product positioning and core values

The EDS-408A series is an 8-port entry-level network managed Ethernet switch designed specifically for industrial scenarios, with high reliability, rich industrial protocol support, and flexible management as its core advantages. It can meet the needs of network redundancy, device interconnection, and monitoring in industrial environments, and is suitable for applications in multiple fields such as intelligent manufacturing, transportation, maritime, and railway.

Core functions and advantages

1. Network redundancy and stability

Fast fault recovery: Supports Turbo Ring and Turbo Chain, with a recovery time of less than 20ms under 250 switching units. It is also compatible with RSTP/STP standard redundancy protocol, avoiding network loops and ensuring fast self-healing after disconnection.

Traffic and bandwidth control: Improve data transmission certainty through QoS (IEEE 802.1p, TOS/DiffServ) and prioritize the protection of critical industrial data; Support bandwidth management to prevent network instability caused by sudden traffic; Equipped with port mirroring function, convenient for online debugging and troubleshooting.

2. Network partitioning and security

VLAN support: Covering port type VLANs, IEEE 802.1Q tag type VLANs, and GVRP protocols, simplifying network planning, achieving logical isolation of different device groups, and improving data security.

Security Management: Supports SNMP v1/v2 c/v3 (network management with different security levels), DHCP Option 82 (IP allocation according to policies), and enables active and efficient network status monitoring through RMON (remote monitoring). Alarm information can be sent via email or relay.

3. Industrial protocols and compatibility

Default enabling protocol: PROFINET or EtherNet/IP (distinguished by model, PN models support PROFINET, EIP models support EtherNet/IP), compatible with Modbus TCP protocol, meeting the interconnection needs of mainstream industrial equipment such as PLCs and sensors.

Supporting documents: Provide EDS files for EtherNet/IP, custom AOI commands, and FactoryTalk ®  View panel; PROFINET's GSDML files and SIMATIC STEP 7 device icons reduce the difficulty of integration with industrial control systems.

4. Flexible management approach

Supports various local/remote management methods such as web browsers, CLI (Command Line), Telnet/serial console, Windows tools, ABC-01 configuration backup tools, etc;

Compatible with MXstudio visual industrial network management platform, it can intuitively monitor and configure multiple switches, simplifying the management complexity of large-scale networking.

Note: It is recommended to use attenuators when connecting single-mode optical fibers to avoid damaging equipment due to excessive optical power; The transmission distance must meet the requirements of "link budget (dB)>dispersion loss (dB)+total link loss (dB)".

Power supply mode: The entire system supports redundant dual inputs and adapts to different voltage requirements:

Conventional models (such as EDS-408A/EIP/PN): 12/24/48 VDC (operating voltage range 9.6-60 VDC);

Special models (such as EDS-408A-3S-SC-48): ± 24/± 48 VDC (operating voltage range ± 19- ± 60 VDC, non miscible polarity).

Protection function: Supports overcurrent protection and reverse polarity protection; The shell is made of metal material, with an IP30 protection level, dust-proof and suitable for industrial environments.

Size and Installation: 53.6 × 135 × 105mm (2.11 × 5.31 × 4.13 inches), supporting DIN rail installation and wall mounting (optional wall mounting kit is required);

Standard model: -10~60 ° C (32~140 ° F);

Selection tip: The model with "- T" at the end is for wide temperature version, and with "-48" is for bipolar voltage version. It needs to be selected according to the actual environmental temperature, power supply type, and transmission distance requirements.
