2.4 Discrete output module
Digital output module (1C31122 series): 16 channels, open collector output, maximum 60V/500mA. Support communication timeout settings for output hold/reset, and have fuse detection function.
Relay output module (1C31219 series and relay base): Provides two types of relay bases, G2R (16 channels) and KUEP (12 channels), with large contact capacity, which can directly drive on-site loads. The module is equipped with fuse detection inside.
Compact digital output module (1C31232 with DO function): high-density 32 channel output, 100mA per channel.
2.5 Dedicated I/O modules
Servo driver module (1C31199 series): used in the digital electro-hydraulic (DEH) control system of steam turbines to drive servo valves. Provides 2-channel independent control, supports DC-LVDT or AC-LVT position feedback, built-in PI control algorithm, and can be calibrated through local serial port.
Valve Positioner Module (1C31194 Series): Used for valve position control in DEH systems, supporting single module or redundant (primary/backup) configurations. Built in PI control, with valve position calibration, diagnosis, and shutdown input functions, can be monitored through SLIM local operation station.
Speed detector module (1C31189 series): single channel, used to measure speed (such as turbine speed), providing 16 bit and 32-bit speed values, with overspeed detection and relay output.
Link Controller Module (1C31166 Series): Provides RS-232/422/485 serial communication interface for connecting third-party devices such as PLCs and analyzers.
Key points of engineering practice
3.1 Installation and Wiring
Base unit: Each base can accommodate two I/O modules, and the address is determined by their physical location on the I/O branch. It is recommended to install in a specific direction (right branch from bottom to top, left branch from top to bottom) to maintain address continuity.
Redundant configuration: Key applications can adopt 1:1 redundancy by installing a pair of identical cards on the redundant terminal block. The system automatically recognizes the primary backup relationship and switches without disturbance in case of failure.
Noise suppression: Analog signals must use shielded twisted pair cables and follow the principle of single point grounding. Shielded cables are also recommended for digital signals. Maintain a safe distance from high-power power lines.
External power supply: When using an external auxiliary power supply, it is necessary to remove the auxiliary power supply fuse on the back panel or transition board of the corresponding branch, and install a fuse cap to prevent the introduction of dangerous voltage.
3.2 Diagnosis and Maintenance
LED status: The P, C, E, and I indicator lights on the module panel are the first basis for quickly identifying faults. The channel LED (red/green) can directly indicate the on-site signal status or channel level faults.
Fuse replacement: Many personality modules and electronic modules are equipped with user replaceable 5x20mm micro fuses. When replacing, it is necessary to use fuses of the same specifications and operate them under power-off or safe conditions.
Software diagnosis: Ovation's I/O Builder and diagnostic tools can read module status words (address 13), dot quality words (address 12), etc., accurately identifying the cause of faults such as open circuit, over range, communication errors, etc.
Online replacement: For modules that support hot swapping, the faulty module can be replaced during system operation, and the new module will automatically download the configuration for quick recovery.
System compatibility and certification
Ovation I/O modules need to be used in conjunction with corresponding controllers (such as PCQL, PCRL, PCRR) and carriers. Some Plus series cards require controller software version v13.3 or higher. The product has passed multiple international certifications such as CE, FM, CSA, ATEX, IECEx, and can be used in hazardous areas such as Class I Division 2 or Zone 2. Specific installation should follow the corresponding installation instructions (such as 12P1293, 12P2046, etc.).
