METSO PDP403 distributed processing unit
METSO PDP403 is a distributed processing unit.
The Model PDP Distributed Processing Unit (DPU) is the hardware processing engine of the maxDNA distributed control system, running under the Windows CE.net real-time multitasking operating system. DPU completes the main data acquisition, control and data processing functions.
The DPU, also known as the maxDPU4F, is a stand-alone microprocessor based, rack-mounted unit that occupies a slot in the remote processing unit cabinet using an 8-wide maxPAC backplane. It is designed to operate in combination with user-defined MaxDNA-type IOP input/output modules and communicate with other devices such as programmable logic controllers and remote terminal units.
As a workstation on maxNET, the DPU scans and processes information for use by other devices in the maxDNA system. Each DPU executes:
• Comprehensive alarm and calculation.
Record event sequence (SOE) data at a resolution of 1 millisecond.
• Get trend information.
• Continuous scanning of IOP I/O modules.
• Performs predefined algorithms, called function blocks, for processes
Control and data acquisition.
