Outline of the PSC5000
The PSC5000 is the power module interface rack assembly that was developed as a controller to be used for factory automation, mainly for motor control, and has functions for sequence control, position control, communication, etc. Up to three axes of motors can be controlled by one PSC5000.
Appearance and List of Products for the PSC5000
Figure 2.1 shows the appearance and the basic equipment of the PSC5000, and Table 2.1 shows a list of the products for the PSC5000.
Hardware of the PSC5000 For a PSC5000
system of single rack using a 6 Slot Back Plane, up to five optional cards can be used in addition to Power Supply Card and Control Card. It is also possible to compose remote I/O expansion system, network communication system or synchronous communication system by using multiple racks. Table 2.2 shows the products that can be used for composing a PSC5000 system of single rack.
Remote I/O Expansion System
As described above, up to five optional cards can be used for a single rack PSC5000 system by using a 6 Slot Back Plane. But further increase of optional cards is possible by adopting remote I/O expansion. In this case, the PSC5000 (master rack) must contain a Network Card, and each of racks for expansion (slave racks) must contain a Power Supply Card, a Remote I/O Interface Card and a 6 Slot Back Plane for RIO (see Tables 2.3 and 2.4). Note that the optional cards that can be installed in a slave rack are Digital I/O Card(s) and Analog I/O Card(s) only. Maximum number of slave racks is seven. Network Communication System
To exchange data between two racks or more, install a Network Card in each rack and connect the racks with cable. In this way, a network communication system consisting of a maximum of 43 racks can be composed. For more information, refer to PSC Network Card Engineering Manual (EM 23605). Table 2.5 shows the products that can be installed in each rack of network communication system.
