Siemens 3RT5066-6AB36 Power Contactor (SIRIUS)

The Siemens 3RT5066-6AB36 is a 4-pole contactor from the SIRIUS 3RT5 series, designed for switching three-phase motors, resistive loads, and capacitor banks. With a rated operational current of 150 A (AC-3 at 40°C), it is suitable for controlling motors up to 110 kW at 400 V AC. The coil is rated for 220 V AC (50/60 Hz) and features an integrated surge suppressor.

Electrical Specifications

Number of main poles: 4 (3 NO + 1 NO or 4 NO configurable). Rated insulation voltage (Ui): 1000 V. Rated impulse withstand voltage (Uimp): 8 kV. AC-3 rating: Ie = 150 A at 400 V; AC-1 rating: Ie = 200 A. Making capacity (Icm): 1700 A. Breaking capacity (Icu) at 400 V: 30 kA (compliant with IEC 60947-4-1). The contactor has a mechanical life of 10 million operations and electrical life of 1.2 million operations at AC-3 duty.


Coil and Auxiliary Contacts

The AC coil operates at 220 V (range 0.85-1.1 x Us), inrush power 260 VA, hold power 16 VA. Built-in varistor suppresses voltage spikes. Two built-in auxiliary contacts: 1 NO + 1 NC (rated 6 A at 240 V AC). Additional side-mount auxiliary contact blocks (3RT5966 series) can be added for up to 4 extra contacts. The coil terminals are marked A1/A2 and accept screw connections up to 6 mm².

Mechanical and Environmental

Dimensions (W x H x D): 127 mm x 158 mm x 112 mm. Weight: 1.8 kg. Operating temperature: -25°C to +60°C. Storage: -40°C to +80°C. Enclosure protection: IP20 on terminals, IP40 on main body. The contactor uses a magnet system with low noise and a sliding armature guide. It withstands vibrations of 5 g (10-55 Hz) and shocks of 10 g (11 ms).

Applications and Compliance

Commonly applied in HVAC compressors, conveyor motors, pumping stations, and industrial ovens. The contactor meets CE, CCC, and UL/CSA (file E251566) standards. A built-in mechanical interlock feature allows mechanical interlocking with another 3RT5066 contactor for reversing starters or changeover systems (requires a separate interlock bracket).

Wiring and Maintenance

Main terminal screws accept cables up to 70 mm² (copper) or 50 mm² (aluminum). Tightening torque: 10 Nm. Periodic inspection of contact wear is recommended every 100,000 switching cycles; replacement contact kits are available (3RT5966-6A). The contactor is not suitable for DC control without an external rectifier.
