Siemens 6SL3210-1SE31-0AA0 SINAMICS PM340 Power Module for S120 Converter System

The Siemens 6SL3210-1SE31-0AA0 is a SINAMICS PM340 Power Module designed for use with the SINAMICS S120 converter system. This power module serves as the controlled power unit for driving AC motors, providing the interface between the DC link and the motor. The PM340 product line spans power ratings from 0.12 kW up to 90 kW, with this model delivering 45 kW of motor output power. The blocksize format with integrated line filter allows direct connection to the mains network, simplifying system design and reducing cabinet space requirements.

Electrical Ratings and Input Specifications

The power module operates on a three-phase AC input voltage range of 380 to 480 V, with rated frequency of 50/60 Hz. The input current handling capability is sufficient to support the rated output, with the unit designed for operation on industrial power systems typical of most manufacturing facilities worldwide. The output is three-phase AC at 90 A, corresponding to a motor power rating of 45 kW. The power module includes an integrated line filter that reduces conducted emissions back onto the mains network, facilitating compliance with EMC standards without requiring external filtering components in many installations. This internal line filter is part of the standard FSE frame size specification for this power segment.

Cooling and Thermal Management

The 6SL3210-1SE31-0AA0 utilizes internal air cooling to dissipate heat generated during operation. The cooling system draws ambient air through the module, passing it over heat sinks and power semiconductor devices to maintain appropriate junction temperatures. A network connection is provided for communication with the control unit and higher-level automation systems. Terminals are provided for connecting an external braking resistor to the integrated braking unit (braking chopper). Motor Connection and Brake Control

A controller for a safe brake relay is integrated into the module, providing control signals for operating a motor holding brake (typically a fail-safe spring-applied brake) directly from the drive. The power module also supplies power to the connected CU305 Control Unit using an integrated power supply, further simplifying the system electrical architecture by reducing the number of external 24V DC power feeds required.

The enclosure provides IP20 degree of protection, suitable for installation within a control cabinet where the module is protected from direct contact and external contamination.
