Requirements for installation locations

Protect motor windings and bearings

The transmission unit (regardless of output frequency) outputs a pulse voltage of about 1.35 times the main grid voltage with a very short rise time. For the transmission units using modern inverter technology, this phenomenon is present.

Due to the performance of the motor cable, the peak pulse voltage on the motor terminal may double, resulting in an additional voltage shock to the motor insulation layer. This rapidly rising voltage pulse and higher switching frequency will create a bearing current inside the motor. The bearing current will gradually damage the bearing.

By using the ABBdu/dt filter (optional), not only can the voltage shock to the motor insulation layer be avoided, but also the bearing current can be reduced and the bearing life can be extended.

In order to avoid damage to the motor bearings, a motor with insulated bearings (mounted at the non-drive end) and an output filter provided by ABB must be selected according to the table below. · Optional du/dt filter (protects motor insulation system, reduces bearing current)

· Common mode filter (mainly reduces bearing current)
