ABB 23WT23 Printed circuit board
ABB 23WT23 Printed circuit board
INTRODUCTION
The board 23WT23 is a printed circuit in Euro-card format (160 mm x 100 mm). All necessary configuration like transmit output level, receiver sensitivity, two- or four –wire operation are configurable by jumper. The interface to the data terminal equipment (DTE) operates according to the RS 232-C standard and supplies the following signals:
– TxD Transmit data
– RxD Receive data
– RTS Request to send
– DCD Data carrier detected
– CTS Clear to send
– DSR Data set ready
Product Overview
The ABB 23WT23 board converts serial data according to the CCITT V.23 standard and is suitable for data transmission over leased PTT lines, private networks or radios. It supports two- or four-wire operation modes selectable via patch cables and features a high-impedance voice frequency (VF) output for connecting up to 10 remote stations to multiple pull-down lines.
Technical Specifications and Features
Versions and Power Supplies:
Version R0001 is supplied with a 5V DC power supply.
The circuit board is a printed circuit in Eurocard (160 mm x 100 mm) format.
Configuration & Interfaces:
All necessary configurations such as transmit output level, receiver sensitivity, two or four wire operation are configurable via jumpers.
The interface to the Data Terminal Equipment (DTE) operates in accordance with the RS 232-C standard and provides signals such as TxD (Transmit Data), RxD (Receive Data), RTS (Request to Send), DCD (Data Carrier Detect), CTS (Clear to Send), and DSR (Data Set Ready).
Signal Status Display and Test:
An LED on the front panel displays the signal status of the RS 232-C interface.
The serial interface signals as well as the VFT lines can be measured or opened using the disconnect test socket on the front panel.
Protection and isolation:
Optional surge voltage protection elements can be inserted as required to protect against transient overvoltage spikes.
If higher isolation voltages are required, an additional VF signal transformer must be used.
Operating Modes and Rates:
The 23WT23 modem operates in half-duplex and full-duplex modes in accordance with the CCITT V.23 standard at a rate of 1200 bits/second.
Application Scenarios
The ABB 23WT23 boards are suitable for applications that require data transmission via serial communication, such as remote monitoring, data transmission systems, industrial automation control and other fields. Its high impedance VF output and multi-remote station connection capability make it particularly suitable for communication systems where multiple remote devices need to be connected.
Maintenance and Troubleshooting
Periodic Inspection:
Periodically check the status of the LEDs on the board to ensure that all signals are working properly.
Check that the jumper configuration is correct to ensure the correct operation of the board.
Cleaning and Maintenance:
Keep the surface of the circuit board clean and dry to avoid dust and moisture damage to the board.
Regularly check the connection of power and signal cables to ensure that the connection is firm and reliable.
Troubleshooting:
If a fault occurs, you can troubleshoot the problem by checking the LED indicators, jumper configurations, power and signal cables.
