The transducer senses the Load cell design - PFTL 101 

 The transducer senses the resulting shear force produced  between top and bottom of the  load cell load cell. 

 The high spring constant g g pg gives  a deflection of only 0.015 mm  (0.0006 inch) at nominal load.
