The unit number configuration determines which memory words in the PLC system are allocated for the board operation, allowing multiple boards to coexist in a single system with proper address allocation. The CompoBus/D communications DIP switch is used to set the communications baud rate and to determine whether communications will continue or stop when a communications error occurs. The baud rate must be set identically on all nodes in the network, as any slaves with baud rates different from the master rate will not be able to participate in communications.

Included Floppy Disk Programming Software

The package includes a floppy disk containing the necessary support software for programming and configuring the C200PC-ISA02-DRM-E SYSMAC Board. This floppy disk stores essential information such as user programs, I/O tables, and system configuration data. The data disk is intended for use in the appropriate floppy disk drive of the programming computer. The floppy disk interface enables users to back up and restore PLC programs, transfer configuration settings between systems, and maintain version control of control logic across multiple installations.

Programs can be output directly to the floppy disk drive, providing convenient storage and transfer of control applications. The floppy disk medium serves as a reliable method for program archiving and system replication, particularly useful in distributed manufacturing environments where multiple identical control systems require the same program logic.

C200H-CN222 Programming Cable

The C200H-CN222 programming cable is specifically designed for connecting the SYSMAC Board or C200H series PLC to a programming device such as a personal computer running CX-Programmer or SYSMAC Support Software. This cable provides the physical interface between the PLC peripheral port and the computer serial communication port, enabling program transfer, online monitoring, and system debugging operations.

For connection of a PC with the SYSMAC board built into the computer where CX-Programmer is installed, the appropriate programming cable ensures reliable communication between the programming software and the board. When using the operator panel for direct programming and monitoring, the cable connection may be configured differently depending on the specific hardware setup. Proper cable selection and pin configuration are essential for establishing stable communication between the programming device and the SYSMAC Board.

C200H-PRO27-E Operator Panel

The C200H-PRO27-E is a handheld programming console designed for direct interaction with OMRON C200H series PLCs and SYSMAC Boards. This operator panel provides a compact, portable interface for programming, monitoring, and troubleshooting control systems without requiring a personal computer. The PRO27 features a liquid crystal display for viewing program instructions, timer and counter values, and data memory contents, along with a full alphanumeric keyboard for entering ladder diagram instructions and modifying system parameters.

The operator panel connects directly to the peripheral port of the SYSMAC Board, enabling on-site programming and maintenance. Key functions include online program editing, forced set/reset of I/O bits, monitoring of contact and coil status, timer and counter value adjustment, data memory read/write operations, and error log viewing. The handheld console is particularly valuable for field technicians performing maintenance on installed equipment where a personal computer may not be readily available or practical to connect.

CompoBus/D Master Functionality

The C200PC-ISA02-DRM-E includes integrated CompoBus/D Master capability, providing DeviceNet-compatible network connectivity for distributed I/O and device control. The CompoBus/D Master unit number is set using a rotary switch on the board, with unit numbers used to differentiate Special I/O Units mounted to the same PLC system, including those mounted to Expansion I/O Racks. Any available unit number can be set as long as it has not been assigned to another Special I/O Unit within the SYSMAC Board system.

The CompoBus/D communications DIP switch configures the network baud rate and error handling behavior. Pin 4 is reserved and must always be set to OFF. Pins 1 and 2 select the baud rate, with factory default setting of OFF, OFF providing 125 kbps communication speed. Higher speeds of 250 kbps and 500 kbps are available for applications requiring faster data exchange. If the same unit number is used for more than one unit, a duplicate number error will occur and the SYSMAC Board will not start properly.

CX-Programmer Software Compatibility

The CX-Programmer software, part of the CX-One automation suite, is fully compatible with the C200PC-ISA02-DRM-E SYSMAC Board. CX-Programmer Versions 3.0 and higher operate on Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows NT 4.0, Windows Me, Windows 2000, and Windows XP operating systems. The software provides a Windows-based programming environment for developing ladder diagram logic, configuring system parameters, and monitoring real-time PLC operation.

After selecting the PLC series in CX-Programmer, the correct CPU type corresponding to the SYSMAC Board must be selected to establish proper communication. The PLC icon in the workspace tree can be double-clicked to access device type settings. By pressing the Settings button next to the selected PLC and clicking in the dialogue box, the CPU type selection can be changed. Proper CPU type selection is essential for successful connection, as CX-Programmer will display an error message if the selected CPU type does not match the actual hardware configuration.

Applications and Use Cases

The complete C200PC-ISA02-DRM-E package with floppy disk, programming cable, and operator panel provides a comprehensive solution for PC-based industrial control applications. Typical applications include machine automation in manufacturing facilities, process control monitoring for chemical and pharmaceutical production, data acquisition systems for quality assurance testing, test equipment control in laboratory environments, and industrial workstations requiring direct PLC functionality without dedicated PLC hardware.

The SYSMAC Board is ideally suited for OEM equipment manufacturers integrating control systems into specialized machinery, system integrators developing custom automation solutions, maintenance departments requiring portable programming capabilities for field service, and educational institutions teaching programmable logic controller programming and industrial automation concepts. The included operator panel provides immediate access for on-site adjustments, while the floppy disk software enables program backup and system replication across multiple installations.

Installation and Configuration

Installation of the C200PC-ISA02-DRM-E requires inserting the board into an available ISA expansion slot on the host PC motherboard.
