OMRON CJ1G-CPU43H V3.0 PLC CPU

The OMRON CJ1G-CPU43H V3.0 is a high-performance CPU unit from the CJ series of programmable logic controllers. Designed for mid-to-large scale automation systems, this processor combines fast execution speeds with extensive memory capacity and built-in communication options. The V3.0 firmware version includes enhancements in processing efficiency and support for advanced instructions.

Technical Specifications

The CJ1G-CPU43H V3.0 features a 32-bit RISC processor with a basic instruction execution time of 0.02 microseconds and special instruction time of 0.06 microseconds. The program memory capacity is 60K steps (UM), with data memory of 32K words (DM) and 32K words (EM). The CPU supports up to 2560 local I/O points and 2048 expansion I/O points via CJ series racks. The unit includes two built-in serial ports: one RS-232C for programming or host link, and one RS-422/485 for peripheral connections. The operating temperature range is 0°C to 55°C, and the CPU consumes 0.64 A at 5V DC from the backplane.


Features and Capabilities

The V3.0 CPU incorporates advanced features including interrupt handling (power-off, scheduled, and I/O interrupts), high-speed counters (up to 50 kHz), and pulse outputs (up to 50 kHz) for motion control. The unit supports up to 16 CPU Bus Units and 40 Special I/O Units. The CJ1G-CPU43H includes a built-in real-time clock with battery backup for time-stamping events. The memory is protected by a lithium battery that retains program and data during power loss, with a typical battery life of five years. The CPU also supports online editing, allowing program changes without stopping the PLC, and includes a built-in self-diagnostic function.

Programming and Software

The CJ1G-CPU43H V3.0 is programmed using OMRON's CX-Programmer software (version 5.0 or higher), part of the CX-One automation suite. The CPU supports ladder diagram, structured text, and sequential function chart programming languages. It is compatible with function blocks and structured programming for complex applications. The instruction set includes PID control, floating-point math, trigonometric functions, and file memory operations. The V3.0 firmware adds support for expanded data memory and improved Ethernet communication when used with optional CJ1W-EIP21 modules.

This CPU is suitable for demanding automation tasks such as packaging machinery, assembly lines, material handling systems, and process control. The combination of high-speed processing and large memory makes it ideal for applications requiring complex sequencing, extensive data logging, or integration with multiple communication networks. The CJ1G-CPU43H is commonly used in automotive manufacturing, electronics assembly, and food processing industries.

Installation and Expansion

The CPU mounts directly onto a CJ series backplane and occupies one slot. It supports up to three expansion racks using I/O Control and I/O Interface Units, allowing total system I/O counts up to 2560 points. The CPU is compatible with all CJ series I/O modules, including digital, analog, temperature control, and motion control units. The battery and memory cassette (optional) are accessible from the front panel for easy maintenance. The unit includes LEDs for power, run, error, and communication status.

Compatibility and Ordering Information

The CJ1G-CPU43H V3.0 is part of the CJ1 family and is fully compatible with earlier CJ1G CPUs as a direct replacement. The V3.0 designation indicates firmware version, which includes improvements in memory management and network performance. This CPU is RoHS compliant and certified by CE, UL, and cUL. For applications requiring more memory or faster processing, the CJ2 series is available, but the CJ1G remains a reliable choice for existing installations.
