The CQM1-TC001 is a dedicated temperature control module for the OMRON CQM1 series PLC. It provides two independent thermocouple input channels and two transistor outputs (NPN) for heating/cooling control. The module executes PID algorithms internally, offloading the CPU from time-consuming loop calculations. It supports auto-tuning to optimize PID parameters for varying thermal loads.
Number of Inputs: 2, isolated channels
Thermocouple Types: K, J, T, L (selectable via DIP switches)
Temperature Range: K: -200 to 1300°C; J: -100 to 850°C; T: -200 to 400°C; L: -100 to 850°C
Resolution: 0.1°C or 1°C selectable
Input Impedance: 1 MΩ
Cold Junction Compensation: Automatic with error ±1.5°C

Each channel has an NPN transistor output rated at 24 VDC, 50 mA (for driving solid-state relays or external contactors). Control modes include ON/OFF, PID (with anti-windup), and heating-cooling dual output. The PID update rate is adjustable from 0.5 to 10 seconds. The module also provides a built-in alarm function (upper/lower limit, deviation) per channel.
The TC001 occupies 20 I/O points in the CQM1's IR area. It transfers temperature readings (BCD format) and control status via dedicated words. The CPU can read process values (PV) and set points (SP), and write SP changes or output manual control. The module also supports a "wait" function (integral time limited) for batch processes.
DIP switches on the module front set thermocouple type, temperature unit (°C/°F), and resolution. No external calibration is required – the module uses factory calibration data stored in EEPROM. However, a user offset (±20°C) can be applied via software to compensate for sensor placement errors. LED indicators show channel status: green for heating output, red for alarm.
Dimensions: 34.5 mm width (1 slot) × 90 mm height × 75 mm depth. Weight: 150 g. Operating temperature: 0–55°C; storage: -20–75°C; humidity: 30–85% (non-condensing). Vibration resistance: 2g at 10–150 Hz. The module is compatible with all CQM1 CPUs (CQM1-CPU11 to CQM1H-CPU51). For expansion, up to 10 temperature units can be installed in a single CQM1 rack.
