The Beckhoff CX5020-0110 is a robust, compact embedded PC from the CX5000 series, designed for DIN rail mounting in industrial control cabinets. This CPU module features an Intel Atom Z510 processor running at 1.1 GHz, providing a balance of performance and energy efficiency for demanding automation tasks. The CX5020-0110 serves as a powerful control platform that can be transformed into a full-featured PLC and Motion Control system through Beckhoff's TwinCAT automation software. With its fanless design and passive cooling architecture, the unit achieves a maximum power consumption of only 13 W, making it suitable for use in thermally constrained environments. The module supports both Windows CE and Windows Embedded Standard operating systems, providing flexibility for different application requirements. The minimum requirement for Windows Embedded Standard 7 P (32 Bit) is a CX5020 with 1 GB RAM installed ex factory and an 8 GB Compact Flash card. TwinCAT Automation Software

The TwinCAT automation software transforms the CX5020-0110 into a powerful PLC and Motion Control system that can be operated with or without visualization. TwinCAT 3 XAR (eXtended Automation Runtime) provides real-time execution of control programs with cycle times as low as 50 microseconds for demanding motion control applications. The software supports all five IEC 61131-3 programming languages including Ladder Diagram, Structured Text, Function Block Diagram, Instruction List, and Sequential Function Chart. The module can interface with a wide variety of digital and analog I/O modules, specialty modules for position measurement, and communication interfaces. Optional fieldbus connections are available for PROFIBUS, CANopen, RS232, RS422, and RS485, enabling integration into existing industrial networks.
