Eaton EASY819-AC-RC easy800 Programmable Relay

The Eaton EASY819-AC-RC (part of the easy800 series) is a versatile programmable logic relay designed to replace complex configurations of discrete timing relays, counters, and auxiliary relays. It comes in a compact housing and features an integrated graphic display and a comprehensive keypad, allowing for straightforward programming directly on the device without the need for a computer. This makes it an exceptionally flexible solution for time-critical and logic-driven control tasks in industrial and building automation.

Power Supply and I/O Configuration

This model is powered by a wide-range AC supply from 100 to 240 V, making it directly compatible with standard industrial power sources without the need for a separate DC power supply. The EASY819-AC-RC is equipped with 12 digital inputs (240 V AC) and 6 relay outputs (8 A rated). The relay outputs are strong enough to switch contactors, small motors, and lighting loads directly, significantly reducing the need for external interposing relays.


Integrated Display and Programming Features

The built-in LCD display, with backlight and configurable contrast, provides clear real-time status of inputs, outputs, and internal parameters. Using the integrated keypad, engineers can create control programs using function block diagrams or ladder diagrams directly. The internal memory supports 128 function blocks, allowing users to implement complex switching sequences, real-time clock-based switching (including automatic summer/winter time conversion), and frequency counters.

System Expandability and Networking

While powerful on its own, the easy800 system can be expanded to meet the needs of larger applications. Up to 8 modules (including the base unit) can be combined, supporting up to 316 I/O points via easyNet networking. The easyNet connection is integrated into the device, allowing high-speed data exchange between multiple easy800 units distributed across a machine or a production cell. This networking capability creates a decentralized control structure without the need for a central master PLC.

Integrated Functions for Versatile Control

The device eliminates the need for separate hardware components by integrating numerous functions directly into its logic. These include multifunction timing relays (on-delay, off-delay, star-delta, pulse), up/down counters, analog value comparators, and a real-time clock/year-week clock for time-switch functions. The integrated real-time clock also ensures precise switching for lighting, heating, and ventilation control in building automation.

Installation and Environmental Suitability

The EASY819-AC-RC is designed for DIN rail mounting within a control cabinet. Its robust industrial design ensures reliable operation over a temperature range from -25°C to +55°C. The device is ideal for a wide range of applications, including conveyor belt controls, production lines, locking systems, pump controls, and building automation tasks. The combination of input/output density, integrated display, and powerful logic functions makes this programmable relay a primary choice for small to medium-scale automation tasks.
