The Role of PROFINET in Modern Industry
The EMERSON PMC PROFINET module is an essential component for integrating industrial controllers into modern Ethernet-based networks. PROFINET is a global standard for industrial communication, known for its high speed and real-time capabilities. This PMC (PCI Mezzanine Card) module allows Emerson PACSystems controllers to function as high-performance PROFINET I/O controllers, managing hundreds of remote devices with minimal latency.
Hardware Performance and Mezzanine Design
Designed as a mezzanine card, the PMC PROFINET module mounts directly onto a host controller or carrier board. This physical architecture saves space and provides a high-bandwidth internal connection to the main processor.
