The EPRO MMS6120 (ordering code 9100-00002-10) is a dual-channel speed monitor designed for continuous speed measurement and overspeed protection in rotating machinery. It is part of the MMS6000 series and complies with API 670 standards. This variant offers similar functionality to the 9100-00002C-08 but may have different ordering options (e.g., relay configuration, analog output scaling). It accepts input from passive magnetic pickups or active eddy current sensors (with appropriate signal conditioning). Each channel independently measures rotational speed and provides two alarm/trip relays with adjustable setpoints, as well as a scalable 4-20 mA output for remote monitoring. The module is widely used in steam turbines, gas turbines, compressors, and pumps for reliable speed monitoring and emergency shutdown.
Dual Redundant Channels: Independent measurement and trip paths for high availability and safety.
Multiple Input Types: Works with magnetic pickups (MPU) and eddy current probes (via CONxxx conditioners).
Adjustable Trip Setpoints: Two independent setpoints per channel (Alert and Danger) with adjustable hysteresis and time delay.
Scalable Analog Outputs: Two 4-20 mA outputs (one per channel) proportional to speed.
Configurable Voting: Relay outputs can be configured for 1oo2 or 2oo2 logic to balance safety and uptime.
API 670 Compliant: Meets all requirements for speed monitoring and overspeed protection devices.
Number of Channels: 2
Input Signal: MPU (0.5–30 Vpp) or eddy current sensor (via CONxxx)
Frequency Range: 1 Hz – 20 kHz
Accuracy: ±0.1% of reading
Relay Outputs: 2 per channel, SPDT, 250 VAC / 5 A
Analog Outputs: 2 x 4-20 mA, max load 600 Ω
Response Time: < 40 ms (trip delay)
Power Supply: 24 VDC via backplane
Operating Temperature: -20°C to +65°C
Certifications: CE, UL, SIL2 capable

This monitor is used in power generation, oil & gas, and industrial processing to measure and protect turbines, compressors, and other critical rotating equipment. It provides essential speed data for control systems and triggers alarms or automatic shutdown if overspeed conditions occur.
The module mounts in an MMS6000 rack and is configured via front-panel controls or through the MMS6850 communication module. Setpoints, output scaling, and relay logic are user-adjustable. The module includes continuous self-diagnostics and a health relay to indicate faults.
Built to the highest industrial standards, the MMS6120 is tested for EMC immunity, vibration, and temperature extremes. It is CE marked and RoHS compliant. Its redundant design and self-test features ensure reliable operation in safety-critical applications.
The EPRO MMS6120 dual channel speed monitor (9100-00002-10) provides accurate and reliable speed measurement and overspeed protection, safeguarding valuable rotating assets.
