OMRON F3SJ-E0625P25 Type 4 Safety Light Curtain (Sender & Receiver)

The F3SJ-E0625P25 is a compact safety light curtain system from OMRON's F3SJ-E series, consisting of a sender and a receiver unit. It provides a protected height of 625 mm and a resolution of 25 mm (pitch), suitable for finger and hand protection (EN 61496-1, Type 4). The system uses infrared beams with blanking and muting functions, making it ideal for guarding robotic workcells, packaging machines, and assembly stations. The sender and receiver are pre-aligned and ready for installation on a standard mounting bracket.

Safety Functions

The light curtain meets Category 4, PL e per ISO 13849-1 and SIL 3 per IEC 61508. It includes a built-in self-test that checks each beam and internal circuitry. The OSSD outputs turn off within 12 ms of beam interruption. The device also supports muting (temporary disabling) with external sensors, and blanking (fixed or floating) for irregular shaped objects. An LED bar on the receiver shows alignment and status.

The sender and receiver are each housed in aluminum extrusion with acrylic cover. Dimensions: 113 mm × 30 mm × 30 mm (L × W × H) per unit. Weight: 0.5 kg for the set. Configuration and Integration

No software configuration is required for basic operation. The units are activated by connecting 24 VDC. The receiver provides two PNP safety outputs and one auxiliary output (NPN/PNP selectable). A test input allows manual checking of the safety function. The light curtain can be connected directly to a safety relay or to a safety PLC (e.g., OMRON NE1A) via its OSSD outputs.

Applications

Used for safeguarding access points to dangerous machinery, such as presses, robots, and cutters. The F3SJ-E0625P25 is particularly suited for small to medium sized openings. For larger heights, the F3SJ-E series offers variants up to 1.2 meters.
