GE Drive Systems 531X300CCHAFM5 PC Control Card
The 531X300CCHAFM5 is a printed circuit control card manufactured by GE Drive Systems (now part of ABB). It is a key component in the 531X series of drive control boards, used in DC drives (e.g., DC300, DC200) and AC drives (e.g., AC300). The card performs signal conditioning for current and voltage feedback, generates firing pulses for thyristors/IGBTs, and interfaces with the main processor board via a 50-pin ribbon cable. It also includes analog and digital I/O for external control signals.
Technical Specifications
Analog Inputs: 4 channels, ±10V or 4-20mA, 12-bit resolution
Analog Outputs: 2 channels, ±10V, 10-bit resolution
Digital Inputs: 8 optoisolated, 24 VDC
Digital Outputs: 4 relay outputs (Form C, 2A at 250 VAC)
PWM Outputs: 6 channels for gate drive signals (15V, 0.5A)
Communication: RS-232 port for configuration and diagnostics
Functional Description
The card mounts on a backplane within the drive cabinet. It receives feedback from current transformers (CTs) and voltage sensors, and processes these signals for the main controller. It also generates precise timing pulses for power semiconductors. Onboard diagnostics include overcurrent detection, undervoltage lockout, and overtemperature sensing. The board has a configuration EEPROM that stores calibration constants.
Physical and Environmental
Dimensions: 220 mm × 160 mm (Eurocard). Weight: 0.4 kg. Power supply: 24 VDC (external) and 5 VDC (backplane). Operating temperature: 0–60°C; storage: -20–70°C; humidity: 10–90% non-condensing. The board is coated with conformal lacquer for protection. It has LED indicators for power, run, and fault.
Compatibility
This card is a direct replacement for 531X300CCHAFM4 and earlier versions. It is compatible with GE Drive Systems cabinets that use the 531X backplane architecture. When replacing, transfer the calibration data from the old board (if possible) or perform a new calibration using GE's service software.
Applications
Used in industrial drive systems for rolling mills, hoists, extruders, and winders. The 531X300CCHAFM5 is critical for maintaining performance and reliability of legacy GE drives.
