The LTi SO84.020 is a high-current three-phase servo drive from the ServoOne series, offering 20A continuous and 40A peak output. Housed in BG3 format (air or liquid cooling), it targets applications requiring substantial torque and wide speed range.
Rated current: 20 A (at 400V, 8 kHz switching frequency)
Peak current: 40 A (0-5 Hz, intermittent)
Mains voltage: 3 x 230V to 480V AC ±10%
Switching frequencies: 4, 8, 12, 16 kHz
Integrated brake chopper (external resistor min. 12 Ω for 400V)
DC link capacitance: 2000 μF (air-cooled version)
Rated output current: 20 A
Peak current (0-5 Hz): 40 A
Connected load: 13.9 kVA (with mains choke)
Power loss at IN: 260 W (8 kHz)
Brake chopper threshold: 650V DC (3x400V) / 820V (460/480V)
Minimum external braking resistor: 12 Ω
Continuous braking power (external): 35 kW
Peak braking power (external): 35 kW
Air-cooled: BG3 dimensions 130 x 345 x 242 mm, weight 6.5 kg
Liquid-cooled: dimensions 130 x 345 x 198.3 mm, weight similar
Liquid cooling: nominal flow 3 l/min, coolant temp 5-40°C, max pressure 2 bar
Control supply: 24V DC ±20% (6A start, 2A continuous)
Digital I/O: 6 inputs, 3 outputs, relay output
Analog inputs: 2 differential (±10V)
Encoder interfaces: resolver and high-resolution (SinCos, EnDat, HIPERFACE)
Communication: USB, Ethernet, optional fieldbus

For air-cooled BG3, maintain 150 mm clearance above and below. For liquid-cooled, use clean drinking water with corrosion inhibitor. The device has a liquid capacity of approx. 0.5 l. Ensure the cooling circuit provides sufficient flow (3 l/min nominal). Shutdown occurs at 65°C heat sink temperature.
The internal brake chopper manages regenerative energy. With an external 12 Ω braking resistor, the continuous braking power is 35 kW. For applications with frequent stops, properly size the resistor to handle the average power. A thermal switch in the braking resistor can be wired to a digital input to disable the power stage upon overtemperature.
Use DriveManager 5 software. Connect 24V control supply (X9/X10) and AC mains (X11). The 7-segment display shows initialization and status. Set motor parameters and enable STO (ISDSH and ENPO at +24V). The drive can be controlled via analog setpoint or fieldbus. Parameter sets can be saved to MMC card for mass cloning.
Ideal for servo motors up to 7.5 kW (400V). Typical applications include injection molding robots, metal forming presses, large conveyors, and winders. The 40A peak current ensures high dynamic acceleration.
Complies with EN 61800-5-1, EN 61800-3 (C2/C3), LVD, EMC directives. UL approval conditions apply.
The LTi SO84.020 provides a reliable and powerful solution for medium- to high-power single-axis control.
