For BG5 air-cooled, maintain minimum clearances of 180 mm above and below the device for proper airflow. For liquid-cooled, connect the cooling circuit using 3/8 inch female threads; use drip-free quick-release couplings. The device has a liquid capacity of approximately 0.5 l. An external mains choke is mandatory for BG5 devices and must be installed between the mains filter and the drive controller. Use shielded motor and encoder cables with double copper braiding. The PE conductor must be sized according to EN 61800-5-1 (minimum 10 mm² copper if mains cable<10 mm²).
Commission the SO84.060 using DriveManager 5 software via USB or Ethernet. After connecting the 24 V control supply, the 7-segment display will show initialization status. Load the appropriate motor dataset for LTi LSH/LST servo motors or configure parameters manually. Enable the power stage by applying +24 V to ENPO (X4/10) and ISDSH (X4/22). The drive then follows the speed or torque setpoint from analog input or fieldbus. The integrated control unit allows basic parameter setting, IP address configuration, and MMC card data transfer without a PC.
The internal brake chopper manages regenerative energy during deceleration. With an external braking resistor of minimum 10 Ω, the continuous braking power is 67 kW. For applications with frequent regenerative cycles, ensure the resistor’s average power rating is not exceeded. A thermal switch in the braking resistor should be wired to a digital input to disable the power stage in case of overtemperature.
The LTi SO84.060 is ideal for servo motors up to 30 kW (400V). Typical applications include large extrusion lines, heavy-duty presses, paper converting machines, winders, and test benches. The 120 A peak current ensures high dynamic acceleration and torque even with high-inertia loads.
The SO84.060 complies with low voltage directive 2006/95/EC, EMC directive 2004/108/EC, and harmonized standard EN 61800-5-1. It meets EN 61800-3 requirements for second environment (C3) and first environment (C2) when installed with appropriate mains filter and cabling. UL approval conditions apply for BG5 devices (class RK1 fuses, copper 75°C cables, 10 kA short-circuit rating).
The LTi SO84.060 offers outstanding power density and reliability for high-performance single-axis servo systems.
