LTi SO84.072 ServoOne Drive Controller 72A BG5

The LTi SO84.072 is a high-current three-phase servo drive in the BG5 housing, delivering 72A continuous and 144A peak. Primarily offered with liquid cooling, it is designed for the most demanding industrial axes where high torque and compact installation are critical.

Installation and Cooling Circuit

Mount the SO84.072 vertically on a grounded mounting plate. For liquid cooling, connect the supply and return lines using 3/8 inch female threads. Use drip-free quick-release nipples to prevent coolant spillage. The device contains up to 0.5 l of coolant; residual liquid may remain after disconnection. Ensure the cooling circuit provides at least 8 l/min flow at 1 bar pressure. The external mains choke must be installed between mains filter and drive.

Commissioning

Commission with DriveManager 5. After applying 24V control supply, the 7-segment display shows "00" then "51". Load motor dataset or configure manually. The STO function requires +24V on ISDSH (X4/22) and ENPO (X4/10) to enable the power stage. The drive supports iPlc programming via CoDeSys. Parameter sets can be saved to MMC card for easy cloning across multiple drives.


Protection and Diagnostics

The drive features comprehensive protection: overcurrent, overvoltage, undervoltage, overtemperature (heat sink and coolant), and short-circuit. The 7-segment display shows device status (5=ready, 4=motor energized) and error codes (Er followed by number). DriveManager 5 provides detailed error history and real-time monitoring.

Applications

Suitable for servo motors up to 37 kW (400V). Typical applications include large injection molding machines, metal forming presses, heavy-duty conveyor systems, and marine deck machinery. The 144A peak ensures rapid acceleration even under high load.

Standards

Complies with 2006/95/EC, 2004/108/EC, EN 61800-5-1, EN 61800-3 (C2/C3). UL approval for BG5 with class RK1 fuses (e.g., 3 x 80 A for SO84.072).
