Mount vertically on a sturdy mounting plate. The BG6a requires significant clearance: minimum 200 mm above and below for air circulation (though liquid cooling reduces cabinet heat). Connect the liquid cooling circuit using 3/8 inch female threads; use drip-free quick-release couplings. The external mains choke is mandatory and must be rated for 143A. Use shielded motor cables with cross-section up to 150 mm². PE conductor must be sized accordingly.
Commission with DriveManager 5. The 7-segment display guides initial steps. After applying 24V control supply and AC mains, enable STO inputs (ISDSH and ENPO). The drive can be controlled via analog setpoint or fieldbus. Parameter sets can be saved to MMC card. For advanced applications, iPlc programming via CoDeSys is supported.
The internal brake chopper can handle up to 79 kW continuous with external 8.5 Ω resistor. For integrated braking, the optional 5 Ω internal resistor provides 4 kW continuous and 135 kW peak. Always wire the resistor’s thermal switch to a digital input to disable the power stage in case of overtemperature.
Suitable for servo motors up to 75 kW (400V). Typical applications include large extrusion lines, heavy-duty presses, mining equipment, and marine propulsion controls. The 286A peak current delivers exceptional torque and acceleration.
