The R28TB uses MELFA-BASIC IV, a high-level programming language designed specifically for industrial robotics. The language supports joint interpolation, linear interpolation, and circular interpolation movements, as well as pallet operations, program flow control, and external signal I/O. Programmers can create complex motion sequences, set speed and acceleration parameters, and implement conditional logic directly from the pendant. The teaching pendant also supports multitasking capabilities, allowing multiple programs to run concurrently on the robot controller.
The pendant is equipped with a 3-position deadman switch (enable switch) that must be held in the middle position to enable servo power and allow robot motion. If the switch is fully pressed or released, the servo power is immediately cut off, stopping the robot. This safety feature is essential during teaching operations where the operator is in close proximity to the robot. The pendant also includes an emergency stop button that connects directly to the robot controller's safety circuit, providing an additional layer of operator protection.
The R28TB is used in robot system programming for welding applications (arc and spot welding), painting and coating robots, material handling and palletizing, assembly operations, and research and development environments. It is also used for system diagnostics and troubleshooting during robot maintenance.
