OMRON F500-C10-ETN Network-Ready Machine Vision Controller

The OMRON F500-C10-ETN is a high-performance network-ready vision controller designed for industrial inspection applications. Part of the F500ETN series, this controller processes images from digital interface cameras to perform quality inspection, part identification, dimensional measurement, and defect detection on automated production lines. The F500 series builds upon the F210 platform with enhanced resolution and real-time data logging capabilities.

Camera and Image Processing

The F500-C10-ETN supports connection of up to two digital interface cameras, enabling inspection of multiple views or complex part geometries without additional controllers. The system processes high-resolution images up to 1K x 1K (1024 x 1024 pixels), providing the detail needed to detect subtle surface defects, measure fine features, and accurately locate component positions. The processing resolution of 1024 x 1024 pixels is a significant advancement over standard VGA-based systems.

The controller manages camera synchronization, lighting triggering, and image acquisition timing, ensuring consistent image quality across varying production speeds. The system includes advanced real-time data logging and storage functions, allowing manufacturers to archive inspection records, track quality metrics, and maintain traceability documentation for compliance purposes. This storage functionality enables the controller to serve as a quality management platform directly on the production floor.

I/O and Communication Interfaces

The F500-C10-ETN provides NPN discrete output configuration for compatibility with Omron and other PLC systems. The total I/O complement includes 33 digital I/O points, providing sufficient interface capacity for trigger inputs, pass-fail outputs, lighting control, and interlocking with downstream equipment. The controller includes a 10/100 Base-TX Ethernet port, enabling network connectivity for remote configuration, data export, and integration with manufacturing execution systems.

Additional communication interfaces include USB port for convenient data transfer and programming connection, and RS-232/422 serial ports for legacy device connectivity or printer interfacing. The optional VisionComposerNET software provides remote configuration and maintenance capabilities, allowing vision engineers to adjust inspection parameters, monitor system status, and diagnose problems without physical access to the controller.

Power and Environmental Specifications

The F500-C10-ETN operates on a 20.4 to 26.4 VDC power supply, compatible with standard industrial power sources. The chassis-mount design allows flexible installation within control cabinets or near the inspection station. The controller is RoHS compliant, meeting environmental standards for restricted substances. The operational temperature range spans 0 to 50°C, accommodating standard industrial environments. The series includes both standard resolution (F210ETN) and high-resolution (F500ETN) variants, with NPN and PNP output models available as F500-C10-ETN (NPN) and F500-C15-ETN (PNP).

Compatibility and System Integration

The F500-C10-ETN works with F500-S1 high-resolution cameras (1 Megapixel) for high-detail applications, as well as standard cameras as required. The controller integrates with F150-M05L 5.5-inch color TFT LCD monitors or F500-M10L 10.4-inch color monitors for operator display functionality. For user input, the system accepts F150-KP Standard Console or F-160-KP Console with additional function keys. Memory expansion is available through F160-N64S memory cards, extending storage capacity for images and inspection data.

Security tools including audit trail creation are available for security-sensitive environments, ensuring that inspection records remain tamper-evident and compliant with regulatory requirements. For maximum resolution applications, the F500-C10-ETN processes up to one million pixel images (1K x 1K) for precision inspection tasks in semiconductor manufacturing, pharmaceutical packaging, automotive component verification, and electronics assembly.

The F500-C10-ETN vision controller integrates with OMRON PLCs, HMIs, and other automation equipment to create comprehensive machine control and inspection systems. Its network capabilities enable remote diagnostics, production monitoring, and connection to higher-level quality management systems.
