The Omron R88D-UEP20V is a compact servo drive from the SmartStep U series, designed to drive Omron R88M-U-series servomotors up to 200W. It operates from a single-phase 200-230 VAC power supply and provides precision position, speed, and torque control for small automation axes. The drive accepts position commands via pulse train (step/direction) or quadrature signals, making it directly compatible with PLCs and motion controllers that have high-speed pulse outputs.

Simple Pulse Train Control

The R88D-UEP20V is optimized for applications where a PLC or motion controller sends step/direction pulses. It supports both line-driver (5V differential) and open-collector (24V) signals. The electronic gear function scales input pulses to motor rotations, eliminating complex calculation in the PLC. A built-in 32-bit position counter ensures high precision for incremental motion.

Compact and Power-Dense Design

With a width of only 30 mm, the R88D-UEP20V is one of the most space-efficient servo drives in its power class. It is designed for DIN rail mounting, simplifying installation in crowded control panels. The drive uses natural convection cooling (no fan), reducing maintenance and noise.

Protection and Diagnostics

The drive includes comprehensive fault detection: overcurrent, overload, overvoltage, undervoltage, and encoder disconnection. Fault codes are displayed on a 7-segment LED on the front panel. An alarm output relay can be wired to the PLC for automatic error handling.
