The 704-673-20 uses transit-time ultrasonic technology, where two transducers alternately transmit and receive ultrasonic pulses through the fluid. The difference in transit time between the upstream and downstream directions is directly proportional to the fluid's velocity. This method is non-invasive and has no moving parts, ensuring low maintenance and high reliability. The device is ideal for clean liquids, but can also handle some dirty or aerated fluids with proper configuration. The advanced digital signal processing (DSP) algorithm filters out noise and ensures stable readings even in challenging conditions.
The flow meter offers multiple output options: a 4-20 mA analog output for direct connection to PLCs and SCADA systems, with HART protocol for remote configuration and diagnostics; an RS-485 port for Modbus RTU communication, allowing integration with industrial networks; and a pulse output for totalization. The device can be powered directly from the 4-20 mA loop (2-wire) or from an external 10-36 V DC power supply.
Typical applications include: petrochemical industry (measurement of crude oil, refined products, and chemical feedstocks); water and wastewater treatment (influent, effluent, and chemical dosing lines); power generation (cooling water, boiler feedwater); food and beverage (sanitary flow measurement); and HVAC systems (chilled water and hot water flow monitoring).
