Pepperl+Fuchs RSD-TI-EX8 Intrinsically Safe Temperature Module
The Pepperl+Fuchs RSD-TI-EX8 is an 8-channel intrinsically safe temperature input module designed for hazardous area applications. It provides a direct interface between field temperature sensors and a PROFINET or EtherNet/IP-based control system, eliminating the need for external safety barriers. Certified for use in Zone 2 explosive atmospheres, it is ideal for the chemical, petrochemical, pharmaceutical and natural gas industries, where it ensures safe and accurate temperature monitoring of reactors, pipelines and storage tanks.

Intrinsically Safe Design
The module complies with ATEX and IECEx Ex nA standards, allowing direct installation in Zone 2 hazardous areas without additional safety barriers. Its key switch prevents mismounting of incorrect modules. The module must be used exclusively with a compatible RS-TB-Ex.SC or RS-TB-Ex.SP terminal base to maintain intrinsically safe backplane values and must not be used with other terminal base types. Unused terminals 36 and 49 must not be used as supporting terminals to avoid damage or unintended system operation. The cover plug for the backplane bus may only be removed when another terminal base is connected.
8-Channel Temperature Acquisition
The RSD-TI-EX8 processes eight independent temperature signals simultaneously. It supports a wide range of thermocouple types (J, K, T, E, R, S, B) as well as 3-wire/4-wire Pt100 RTDs, making it compatible with virtually all industrial temperature sensors. High-precision measurement accuracies of up to ±0.05% FS ensure reliable process data for critical control tasks.
Seamless Industrial Ethernet Integration
Two built-in industrial Ethernet ports support PROFINET and EtherNet/IP protocols, enabling real-time data upload to PLCs, DCS or SCADA systems. The integrated diagnostic function continuously monitors the module and sensors for open-circuit, short-circuit or overrange conditions, and automatically sends alarms to the control system, significantly reducing downtime and troubleshooting effort.
