The Phoenix Contact IBS 24BK-I/O-T is a bus coupler for the INTERBUS fieldbus system. It connects local I/O modules (digital and analog) to the INTERBUS network, enabling high-speed cyclic data exchange between the controller (PLC or PC) and field devices. The coupler is powered by a 24V DC supply and includes a built-in power supply unit for the connected I/O modules.
Product Type: INTERBUS bus coupler (remote bus)
INTERBUS Interface: 2 x RJ45 (IN/OUT), data rate 500 kbps or 2 Mbps (auto-detection)
I/O Local Bus: Phoenix Contact INTERBUS I/O interface, supports up to 64 I/O modules
Power Supply (bus coupler): 24 V DC (20.4 – 28.8 V)
Power Consumption: Approx. 120 mA at 24 V (without I/O load)
I/O Module Supply: Integrated 24 V DC / 2 A output for powering I/O modules

Certifications: CE, UL, cUL, ATEX (Zone 2)

The IBS 24BK-I/O-T operates as a remote bus device on the INTERBUS network. It receives process data from the INTERBUS master and distributes it to the local I/O modules via the internal bus. The coupler automatically detects the number and type of connected I/O modules during startup and configures the process image accordingly. It supports both digital and analog I/O modules, with up to 32 words of input and 32 words of output data. The bus coupler also passes through the INTERBUS bus power to subsequent devices.
The bus coupler is mounted on a standard NS 35 DIN rail. I/O modules are attached to the right side of the coupler using the INTERBUS I/O local bus connectors (push-in or screw-type). Configuration is performed via the INTERBUS master software (e.g., Phoenix Contact PC Worx or CLC). The coupler includes an integrated boot loader for firmware updates via the INTERBUS network. LEDs on the front panel provide detailed diagnostic information: green RUN, red BUS FAIL, green/red I/O supply, and yellow bus activity.
The IBS 24BK-I/O-T is used in factory automation, process control, and building automation where INTERBUS is the chosen fieldbus. Typical applications include conveyor systems, packaging machinery, and material handling equipment. Its compact design and integrated power supply reduce panel space and wiring effort.
