The SM128V offers extensive configuration flexibility through front panel switches and onboard DIP switches. The Mode switch selects between normal operation and peer-to-peer mode. The Range and Address switches define the signal position and quantity in cascade mode. Onboard DIP switches allow configuration of VME base address, byte order, and data format. The card also provides a hardware reset button and clear LED status indicators for operational monitoring.
The SM128V is compatible with a wide range of VME-based control systems including GE 90/70, Siemens Simatic TDC, and ALSPA platforms such as CP80/A800, C80 HPC, and C80 HPCI. It integrates seamlessly with ibaPDA for data acquisition and ibaLogic for soft PLC applications. The card also supports direct connection to ibaFOB series interface cards and ibaPADU-8 I/O devices.
In cascade mode, multiple SM128V cards can be connected in a daisy-chain configuration, allowing up to 64 signals to be transmitted over a single fiber optic link. Each card occupies a defined position within the telegram based on its address and range settings. Peer-to-peer mode enables direct data exchange between two SM128V cards without requiring additional hardware or software.
The SM128V is widely used in industrial automation for applications such as high-speed data acquisition from VME-based controllers, process monitoring and analysis, distributed I/O expansion, and integration of legacy VME systems with modern data analytics platforms. Its deterministic 1 ms cycle time ensures precise synchronization between control and monitoring systems.
The SM128V VMEbus interface card delivers high-speed fiber optic communication, flexible configuration, and broad system compatibility. It is a reliable solution for integrating VME-based automation systems with iba data acquisition and control platforms in demanding industrial environments.
