The Vibro-meter MPC4 is a 4-channel machinery protection card designed for continuous monitoring of critical rotating equipment. This module provides independent signal conditioning, measurement processing, and alarm generation for each channel, making it suitable for vibration monitoring on turbines, compressors, pumps, and generators in power generation and industrial facilities.
The MPC4 features four independent measurement channels, each configurable for different sensor types and measurement parameters. Each channel includes integral signal conditioning with programmable gain stages, anti-aliasing filters, and analog-to-digital conversion. The card supports simultaneous measurement of multiple parameters per channel, including overall vibration amplitude, displacement, and velocity values.
The module accepts inputs from a wide range of sensors commonly used in machinery monitoring. IEPE accelerometers are supported with constant current excitation. Velocity sensors provide direct velocity measurements. Eddy current proximity probes are supported for shaft displacement and position measurements. The card also accepts 4-20 mA current loop signals from process transmitters for temperature, pressure, and other process parameters.
Channel Count: 4 independent measurement channels
Sensor Types: IEPE/ICP accelerometers, velocity sensors, proximity probes, 4-20 mA transmitters
Frequency Range: 0.2 Hz to 20 kHz (configurable per channel)
Dynamic Range: > 90 dB
Alarm Setpoints: Programmable alert and danger levels per channel
Alarm Outputs: Form C relays for alarm and trip signals
Signal Outputs: Buffered raw signal outputs for diagnostic use
Power Supply: 24 V DC from rack backplane

Each channel provides independently programmable alert and danger alarm setpoints. Alarm logic includes configurable time delays to prevent nuisance tripping during transient events, hysteresis settings to stabilize alarm states, and latching or non-latching operation modes. Alarm outputs are available as form C relay contacts for direct connection to plant safety systems. The card also provides buffered raw signal outputs for connection to portable analyzers or external monitoring equipment.
The MPC4 includes comprehensive diagnostic features to ensure reliable operation. Front panel LEDs provide visual indication of channel status, alarm conditions, and module health. Continuous sensor integrity monitoring detects open circuits, short circuits, and sensor bias failures. The card communicates status information to the system controller for integration into plant-wide monitoring systems.
