Analysis of the entire family of ENOTEC in-situ gas analyzers: a complete solution from combustion optimization to explosion-proof safety monitoring

Selection dilemma: why engineers need a "family photo" style technical review

In combustion and emission measurement projects in boilers, cement rotary kilns, coal powder silos, and hazardous areas, engineers face highly similar pain points: the analytical instruments at hand either respond too slowly, the probes are too brittle, or the explosion-proof certification cannot cover actual working conditions, and even require an external blowing unit to barely use. What's even more tricky is that different process locations (furnace outlet, flue, silo, CEM cabinet) have vastly different requirements for measurement methods - in-situ (InSitu) or extraction? Single O ₂ or O ₂/Co dual parameter? Non explosion proof zone or ATEX 1/2/20 zone?

ENOTEC (ENergy Optimization Technology) started with ZrO ₂ oxygen sensors in 1980, and after more than 40 years of development, has expanded its product line into a complete family covering almost all combustion and safety monitoring scenarios. Based on the technical data in the product catalog, this article breaks down the positioning, parameters, and selection logic of each model one by one, providing a practical reference for project engineers in the "search solution" stage.


Technical Base: Why is ENOTEC InSitu Sensor Durable

Before understanding the ENOTEC product line, it is necessary to first understand its shared sensor technology. ENOTEC uses mature manufacturing processes and the strongest materials to construct sensors, resulting in a longer operating life than any similar product on the international market. Its core advantages are reflected in three points:

1. Tolerance to extreme working conditions. The O ₂ sensor can operate under harsh conditions of high dust and corrosive flue gas components, with a maximum process gas temperature of 1400 ℃ (in conjunction with cooling protection pipes). The sensor electrode is covered with an MLT porous protective layer, which can resist the erosion of corrosive components such as high concentration SO ₂ - this is particularly critical for power plants that burn high sulfur coal or inferior fuels.

2. COe supplementary measurement. COe refers to the total sum of unburned molecules: carbon monoxide (CO), hydrocarbons (CxHy), and hydrogen (H ₂). Due to the inverse relationship between COe and O ₂ content in flue gas, the two together constitute an ideal indicator for determining whether combustion is complete and efficient. Low O ₂ (<0.5%) means incomplete combustion, while high O ₂ (>5%) represents energy waste caused by excessive air, such as unnecessary heating of combustion air. Only by monitoring these two parameters simultaneously can the wind coal ratio be compressed to the truly optimal range.

3. Second level response and online calibration. Sensors directly measure oxygen and unburned molecules in high temperature, high humidity, and high dust flue gas. Small changes in flue gas components can be detected within seconds, and InSitu online calibration can be manually or automatically performed at any time without disassembling the probe.


OXITEC series: Three forms of O ₂ measurement

OXITEC 5000 safe area - the main force of universal combustion control

This is ENOTEC's flagship in-situ oxygen analyzer, used for precise measurement of various flue gas O ₂ concentrations, supporting the dual goals of fuel efficiency and emission reduction. Technical points:

Process gas temperature: Continuous operation up to 600 ℃ -800 ℃ (INCOLOY probe), with cooling protection tube up to 1400 ℃;

Probe insertion length: 493mm to 3689mm (customizable for special specifications), made of SS316TI stainless steel;

Two freely configurable O ₂ ranges: 0-2 vol.% to 0-25 vol.%;

Environmental temperature: probe -40 ℃ to+80 ℃, electronic unit -20 ℃ to+55 ℃;

Protection level: probe IP65, electronic unit IP66;

Equipped with a sturdy SME-5 electronic unit, providing plausibility verification to ensure safe and efficient combustion processes.

SIL2/1001 certification and T Ü V Rheinland certification allow it to be directly incorporated into safety interlock circuits.

OXITEC 5000 GasEx - Explosion proof version for ATEX Zone 1/2

Reinforced analyzer for hazardous areas, certified by ATEX for ignition protection (II 2G Ex db IIC T3 Gb), with a maximum continuous process gas temperature of 500 ℃ (equipped with cooling protection tube at 1400 ℃), optional insertion length of 464mm/924mm, probe and electronic unit with IP66 rating, and range configuration consistent with the safe area version. Its core value lies in the fact that it can operate directly in explosive hazardous areas without the need for sampling and preprocessing systems, and without the need for external blowing units - something that many "nominally explosion-proof" competitors cannot achieve.

OXITEC 500E - Extraction Rack Edition

Adopting the same sensor technology as OXITEC 5000, packaged in a 4U high 19 "rack, dedicated to continuous O ₂ measurement inside the analysis cabinet (CEM cabinet). Zirconia principle, ambient temperature -20 ℃ to+55 ℃, dual range 0-2 to 0-25 vol.%, IP20 protection. When the project requires all analytical instruments to be centrally installed in the CEM cabin for unified maintenance, it is the standard answer alongside in-situ probes.
