Basic information

Product identification: This is a motor module from ABB in co-operation with Hartmann&Braun, type PE 01, product number 66072 - 2 - 0005, belonging to the H&B Contronic series. This numbering system facilitates precise identification of the product at all stages of production, sales and maintenance.

Functional characteristics

Motor drive and control:

Its core function is to drive and control motors. It can accurately regulate the motor's operating state according to external input control signals, including motor start, stop, speed regulation and steering control. For example, in an automated production line, by receiving instructions from the control system, the motor can be made to start smoothly at a specific speed, and the speed can be changed at any time to adapt to different production rhythms.

Able to provide a variety of control modes to meet different application requirements. It may support open-loop control, i.e. drive the motor according to the preset parameters; it may also support closed-loop control, which uses the signals returned from the motor (e.g. speed feedback, position feedback, etc.) to adjust the output in real time, so as to make the motor run more accurately and stably.

Signal processing capability:

The module can process various signals generated during motor operation. It can monitor and analyse the current signal of the motor, which is used to control the torque output of the motor on the one hand, and on the other hand, it is used to detect whether the motor is overloaded or not and other abnormal conditions. At the same time, it can also process signals from feedback devices such as speed sensors and convert them into a format that can be recognised and utilised by the system for precise control of the motor's speed and position.

Protection Functions:

To ensure the safe operation of the motor, the PE 01 module is equipped with a comprehensive protection mechanism. When the motor is overloaded, i.e. when the load current exceeds the threshold set by the module, it is able to take rapid action, such as reducing the power supplied to the motor or simply cutting off the power supply, in order to prevent the motor from being damaged by overheating. In addition, it may also have a short-circuit protection function, when the motor circuit short-circuit, the module can quickly detect and cut off the circuit, to avoid more serious damage to the motor and the whole system.

Application Scenarios

Industrial automated production: In the automated production lines of various industrial fields such as chemical, pharmaceutical, food and beverage, it is widely used to drive various motor devices. For example, in pharmaceutical production lines, it is used to control the speed of stirring motors to ensure the uniformity of drug mixing; in food packaging production lines, it is used to drive conveyor belt motors so that the food can be packaged at the right speed.

Logistics and Warehouse Automation: In automated warehouse systems, motors are used to control equipment such as stacker cranes and automated guided vehicles (AGVs). The lifting motors and travelling motors of stacker cranes can efficiently complete the tasks of storing and picking up goods through the precise control of the PE 01 module; the drive motors of AGVs can accurately transport goods to the designated positions under the control of the module.

Intelligent Building and Facility Management: It is also used in some equipment in intelligent buildings, such as lift motors and ventilation system motors. For lift motors, the PE 01 module can accurately control the lift speed and stopping position of the lift; for ventilation system motors, it can adjust the motor speed according to parameters such as indoor air quality and temperature, thus controlling the ventilation volume.
