Allen-Bradley 1404-M605B-ENT PowerMonitor 3000 Master Module
The 1404-M605B-ENT is a master module in the Allen-Bradley PowerMonitor 3000 series, designed for comprehensive electrical power measurement and analysis. It directly connects to voltage and current transformers, measuring three-phase (wye or delta) systems up to 600 VAC line-to-line. The module provides true RMS readings, power quality metrics (THD up to 63rd harmonic), and energy consumption data. It communicates via embedded EtherNet/IP, making it ideal for integration with ControlLogix, CompactLogix, and other Ethernet/IP-capable PLCs.
Measurement Specifications
Voltage Inputs: 3-phase + neutral, up to 600 VAC (direct connection via PT optional)
Current Inputs: 3 channels via external CTs (5A secondary standard, 1A optional)
Frequency Range: 45–65 Hz
Accuracy: Voltage/Current ±0.1%, Power ±0.2%, Energy Class 0.5 (IEC 62053-22)
Harmonic Analysis: Up to 63rd order, THD, TDD, individual harmonics
Sampling Rate: 128 samples per cycle (7.68 kHz at 60 Hz)
Parameters and Data Logging
The module calculates over 120 electrical parameters: voltage, current, active/reactive/apparent power, power factor, frequency, demand, min/max values, and total energy (import/export). It includes a real-time clock and non-volatile memory for data logging (up to 1 MB). The module can store trend logs (user-defined intervals) and event logs (over 1000 events with timestamp).
Communication and Integration
The built-in EtherNet/IP port (10/100 Mbps) supports explicit and implicit messaging, allowing the PowerMonitor to act as a I/O adapter or a data server. The module also features an RS-485 port (Modbus RTU slave) for legacy SCADA integration. A web server provides real-time data and configuration via standard browser. The device supports SNMP for network management.
Physical and Environmental
Dimensions: 150 mm × 120 mm × 60 mm (H × W × D). Weight: 0.6 kg. Power supply: 24 VDC (18–30 V) or 120/240 VAC (optional). Power consumption: 8 W typical. Operating temperature: -20°C to +70°C; storage: -40°C to +85°C; humidity: 5–95% non-condensing. Enclosure rating: IP20 (panel mount, DIN rail). Certifications: UL 508, CSA C22.2, CE, and NEMA 4X (with optional enclosure).
Applications
Commonly used in energy management systems, sub-metering for industrial plants, data centers, and renewable energy installations. The 1404-M605B-ENT can be paired with current transformers (CTs) from 5A to 10,000A. It also supports power quality compliance reporting per IEEE 519-2014. The module can trigger alarms (over/under voltage, current, power factor) via Ethernet/IP or relay outputs (optional expansion module).
