OMRON CJ1W-MAD42 Analog Input/Output Module

The CJ1W-MAD42 is a mixed analog I/O module for the OMRON CJ1 series PLCs. It provides 4 analog input channels and 2 analog output channels, each individually configurable for voltage (±10V, 0–10V, 0–5V, 1–5V) or current (0–20 mA, 4–20 mA). The module features 12-bit resolution (1/4096) and a conversion time of 1 ms per channel for inputs and 0.5 ms for outputs. It is suitable for applications requiring precise measurement and control, such as pressure, temperature, flow, and position.

Configuration and Functions

Channel settings are made via the PLC’s DM (Data Memory) area, eliminating the need for DIP switches. Features include scaling (conversion to engineering units), peak/bottom hold, and averaging (moving average over 1–255 samples). The module also supports disconnection detection for 4–20 mA inputs (outputs a pre-defined value or alarm flag). An error flag is available for each channel.

It has a removable terminal block (M3 screws, 18 AWG max).

Compatibility and Applications

The CJ1W-MAD42 is compatible with all CJ1, CJ1H, CJ1G, and CJ2 CPUs. It occupies one slot and uses no external power supply for logic. Typical applications include HVAC control, plastic extrusion temperature regulation, pressure monitoring in hydraulic systems, and analog setpoint generation for variable frequency drives. Up to 16 MAD42 modules can be installed in a single CJ1 rack (subject to power budget).
