Basler BE 20035 001 Transformer

The Basler BE 20035 001 (also identified as BE20035001) is a versatile control transformer that provides reliable voltage conversion and isolation for a wide range of industrial automation and power control applications. Its compact design and multiple tapping options allow flexible integration into new or existing panels.

Core Design

This transformer utilises a high‑efficiency laminated core with low loss characteristics. The primary and secondary coils are wound on separate bobbins and insulated with polyester tape, providing excellent dielectric strength. The entire unit is encapsulated in a durable steel housing with powder‑coat finish for corrosion resistance.

Electrical Ratings

  • Primary voltage options: 240 VAC, 480 VAC (with taps for 208/220 V).

  • Secondary voltage: 120 VAC / 24 VAC selectable.

  • Power capacity: 150 VA continuous.

  • Frequency: 50/60 Hz.

  • Impedance: 3.5 % at 25 °C.

  • Inrush current: 10 × rated for first cycle.


Performance Characteristics

Voltage regulation is ±3 % from no load to full load, ensuring stable voltage for connected devices. The transformer exhibits low leakage inductance, reducing electromagnetic interference. It is rated for 100 % continuous duty cycle and can withstand short‑term overloads up to 125 % for 2 hours.

Mounting and Connections

Wiring Configurations

Primary connections: for 240 V, connect H1 to L1 and H2/H3 to L2; for 480 V, connect H1 to L1 and H4 to L2, with H2‑H3 jumpered. Secondary: X1‑X2 for 24 VAC, X1‑X4 for 120 VAC (with X2‑X3 as centre tap for 60‑0‑60). Always follow the connection diagram on the nameplate.

Applications

Commonly used to supply control power for motor starters, contactor coils, and electronic timers. Also used as an isolation transformer for AC drives and instrumentation to reduce common‑mode noise and protect sensitive circuits from line transients.

Operating temperature: -25 °C to +55 °C. Storage temperature: -40 °C to +85 °C. Humidity: 5–95 % non‑condensing. The transformer is rated for indoor use and should not be exposed to dripping water or corrosive gases.


Installation Best Practices

Use flexible conduit for incoming and outgoing wiring to minimise strain on terminals. Install fuses on both primary and secondary circuits according to NEC or local codes. Do not mount the transformer near heat‑generating equipment. Allow at least 50 mm clearance around the enclosure.

Maintenance and Inspection

Regularly inspect for discolouration, overheating marks, or unusual odours. Tighten all terminal screws annually. Measure primary and secondary voltages under load to ensure proper operation. If the transformer fails the insulation resistance test (less than 2 MΩ), replace it immediately.
