The Basler Electric AEM‑2020 is an analog expansion module designed to extend the I/O capabilities of the DGC‑2020 digital genset controller. It provides additional analog inputs for monitoring parameters such as pressure, temperature, level, and flow, as well as analog outputs for actuator control or signal retransmission. This module is ideal for applications that require more than the standard number of sensor channels.
The AEM‑2020 offers 8 analog inputs, configurable for 0‑10 VDC, 4‑20 mA, or resistive (thermistor/RTD) sensors. It also provides 4 analog outputs, configurable for 0‑10 VDC or 4‑20 mA, suitable for controlling governor actuators, AVR trimming, or driving remote meters. All channels are galvanically isolated from the controller and from each other to prevent ground loops and improve noise immunity.
The module connects to the DGC‑2020 via a dedicated communication bus (CAN or RS‑485), requiring only two wires for data and power. It is automatically recognized by the controller, and the additional channels appear as available parameters in the DGC‑2020’s configuration software. The module can be mounted remotely up to 100 meters from the controller using shielded cable.
Power supply: 8‑35 VDC (derived from controller or external). Analog input accuracy: ±0.2% of full scale. Analog output accuracy: ±0.5%. Sampling rate: 10 ms per channel. Isolation: 1500 V RMS between channels and supply. Operating temperature: –20°C to +70°C. Enclosure: DIN‑rail mount, IP20. Dimensions: 90 mm x 70 mm x 60 mm.
This expansion module is used in generator sets with additional monitoring requirements, such as measuring fuel pressure, oil temperature, coolant level, exhaust gas temperature, or vibration sensors. It is also used in process automation where the DGC‑2020 acts as a data concentrator. It can be used in parallel with multiple AEM‑2020 modules to scale I/O as needed.
Mount the module on a DIN rail near the controller or in a remote junction box. Connect the communication bus and power leads. Assign the analog channels via the DGC‑2020 configuration software, selecting sensor type and scaling. Calibration of each input can be performed using a known reference signal.
Basler Electric ensures high reliability with this module through robust component selection and rigorous testing. The module is protected against reverse polarity, over‑voltage, and transient surges. It features LED indicators for power and communication status. The module is backed by Basler’s warranty and technical support.
The Basler Electric AEM‑2020 analog expansion module provides a simple, cost‑effective way to expand the monitoring and control capabilities of the DGC‑2020 controller. Its flexible inputs, easy integration, and rugged design make it an indispensable accessory for advanced generator control systems.
