The Basler Electric BE3‑25A (style B1D) is an automatic synchronizer module designed to automatically match the voltage, frequency, and phase angle of a generator to a live bus, enabling seamless paralleling with minimal disturbance to the power system. It continuously measures the generator and bus voltages, calculates the required correction signals, and issues speed (governor) and voltage (AVR) commands to bring the generator into synchronism. The module then issues a closure signal to the breaker at the optimum point, ensuring safe and reliable paralleling.
The BE3‑25A provides precise control of slip frequency and phase angle. It features adjustable synchronization parameters including voltage matching limit, phase angle limit, and slip frequency limit. The module can operate in both isochronous and droop modes, making it suitable for a variety of generator and system configurations. It includes a built‑in synchronization check relay as a backup to the main control, ensuring that closure occurs only when all conditions are met.
A front‑panel LCD display shows real‑time measurements of bus and generator voltages, phase angle difference, and slip frequency. Five pushbuttons allow settings adjustments. LED indicators show synchronizing status and relay health. The module communicates via RS‑485 Modbus RTU for remote monitoring and control. Settings are stored in non‑volatile memory.
Voltage input: 100‑480 VAC, 50/60 Hz, three‑phase. Accuracy: ±0.5% for voltage, ±0.5 degree for phase angle. Output contacts: 2 Form C (trip and alarm), rated 5 A at 250 VAC. Analog outputs: 0‑10 VDC (speed and voltage control signals). Power supply: 24‑250 VDC or 120‑240 VAC. Operating temperature: –25°C to +65°C. Enclosure: IP30, panel‑mount.
The BE3‑25A is used in generator paralleling applications in utility power plants, industrial co‑generation, marine systems, and standby generator sets. It is suitable for both small and large generators and can be used with diesel, gas, and hydro turbines.
Mount the module in a panel cutout. Connect voltage inputs from the generator and bus, and connect the control outputs to the governor and AVR. Commissioning involves setting synchronizing parameters and verifying operation with a test set. The module includes a simulation mode for functional testing.
Basler Electric’s BE3‑25A is built with high‑quality components and tested for environmental resilience. Its microprocessor‑based design ensures accurate and repeatable synchronization. The module is backed by Basler’s technical support and warranty.
The Basler Electric BE3‑25A auto synchronizer (B1D) offers precise, reliable, and automatic paralleling of generators to a live bus, reducing operator workload and ensuring safe system operation.
