The OMRON CP1H-X40DT-D is a high-speed, high-performance compact programmable logic controller from the CP1H series, designed for applications requiring advanced motion control and high-speed I/O processing in a compact form factor. This CPU unit integrates 40 built-in I/O points and offers sophisticated features typically found in larger PLC systems.

Product Overview

The CP1H series represents OMRON's advanced compact PLC platform, combining the ease of use of micro PLCs with the advanced functionality of modular systems. The CP1H-X40DT-D specifically provides a 24 VDC power supply, 24 VDC inputs, and 16 transistor outputs, making it suitable for applications requiring high-speed switching and direct connection to DC loads. The unit supports chassis mount or DIN rail installation, providing flexibility for different panel layouts.

The CP1H PLCs are supported by CX-Programmer version 6.1 or higher, providing a powerful programming environment for developing, debugging, and maintaining user applications. Optional units are available separately for adding RS-232C, RS-422A/485, Ethernet, or LCD display capabilities to the base CPU unit.


Memory and Processing Capabilities

The CP1H-X40DT-D offers substantial memory capacity with 20K steps of program memory and 32K words of data memory, providing ample space for complex control programs and data storage. This memory capacity supports sophisticated control strategies including multiple PID loops, data logging, and recipe management without requiring external memory modules.

The high-speed processing capabilities of the CP1H CPU enable fast scan times and responsive control, making the unit suitable for applications requiring real-time response to rapidly changing input conditions. The CPU architecture is optimized for high-speed execution of ladder logic instructions, ensuring that control actions occur within predictable timeframes.

High-Speed Counter and Pulse Output Features

A distinguishing feature of the CP1H-X40DT-D is its integrated high-speed counter and pulse output capabilities. The CPU includes four axes of 100 kHz high-speed counters, enabling precise measurement of high-frequency pulse signals from encoders, flow meters, and other pulse-generating sensors. These counters can operate in multiple counting modes including up/down counting, incremental encoder input, and pulse/direction modes.

For motion control applications, the CP1H-X40DT-D provides two axes of 100 kHz pulse outputs (available on models with transistor outputs only). These pulse outputs can be used to control stepper motors or servo drives, providing open-loop positioning capability without requiring dedicated motion control modules. The pulse outputs support trapezoidal and S-curve acceleration/deceleration profiles, enabling smooth motion control for positioning applications.

I/O Configuration and Expansion

The CP1H-X40DT-D includes 24 DC input points and 16 PNP transistor outputs rated at 0.3 A per point. The unit also incorporates one built-in analog input channel, providing basic analog measurement capability without requiring an additional expansion module. This integrated analog input is suitable for applications requiring monitoring of a single analog signal such as a potentiometer, simple sensor, or voltage source.

For applications requiring additional I/O capacity, the CP1H supports connection to CP series expansion units, allowing system designers to scale the control solution to meet application requirements. The expansion interface supports both digital and special I/O units, including additional analog I/O, temperature control, and communication modules.

Communication Capabilities

The CP1H-X40DT-D includes built-in USB programming port for connection to CX-Programmer and other OMRON programming tools. Additional communication options are available through separately sold Option Units, including RS-232C ports, RS-422A/485 interfaces for connection to legacy devices and Modbus networks, Ethernet ports for connection to plant networks and remote monitoring systems, and LCD display units for local operator interface functionality.
