OMRON CQM1‑AD041 4‑Channel Analog Input and CQM1‑IPS02 Power Supply for CQM1 PLC
The OMRON CQM1‑AD041 and CQM1‑IPS02 form a complete analog input expansion set for the CQM1 series PLC. The AD041 provides four analog input channels (voltage or current), while the IPS02 is a dedicated 24 V DC power supply unit that energises the AD041 and other attached analog modules, reducing load on the CPU backplane.
CQM1‑AD041 Analog Input Unit
The AD041 offers four individually configurable inputs: 0‑10 V, 0‑5 V, or 4‑20 mA. Input impedance: 1 MΩ (voltage) / 250 Ω (current). Resolution: 12 bits (0‑4095). Conversion speed: 2.5 ms per channel. Accuracy: ±0.5% FS. The module includes a built‑in filter and protection against overvoltage. It occupies four input words in the PLC’s I/O memory. The AD041 requires an external 24 V DC supply, which is normally provided by the IPS02.
CQM1‑IPS02 Power Supply Unit
The IPS02 is a compact power supply module specifically designed to power analog I/O units (AD041, DA041, TC101, etc.) in the CQM1 system. Input: 100‑240 V AC, 50/60 Hz. Output: 24 V DC, 0.5 A (regulated). This output is isolated from the mains and has short‑circuit protection. The IPS02 mounts directly to the right of the CPU or an existing expansion unit. It includes a green LED indicator and a replaceable fuse holder. Using the IPS02 prevents overloading the CPU’s internal 5 V and 24 V buses when multiple analog modules are installed.
Installation and Wiring
Connect the IPS02’s 24 V output to the AD041’s external power terminals (usually labelled “24V” and “0V”). The AD041’s analog inputs are connected via a removable 10‑pin terminal block (M3 screws). Shielded twisted‑pair cable is recommended for current loops. The AD041’s ground terminal should be connected to the PLC’s ground bar to avoid noise.

Addressing and Programming
The AD041 uses input words IW(n) to IW(n+3), where n is determined by its slot position. The IPS02 does not occupy any I/O address. In CX‑Programmer, you can read the raw values and scale them using the SCL instruction. Example: a 4‑20 mA sensor reading 0‑1000 L/min can be scaled with a simple formula. The module also provides an error flag in the first word of the status area (bits indicate input range error or open circuit).
Typical Applications
This combination is ideal for retrofitting existing CQM1 systems with analog monitoring capabilities without changing the power budget. Examples include pH level monitoring (4‑20 mA transmitter), tank level (0‑10 V ultrasonic sensor), and variable frequency drive speed feedback (0‑10 V).
