The FloBoss S600+ Base Unit serves as the foundational chassis for the S600+ Flow Computer system. Designed specifically for panel-mount installation in fiscal hydrocarbon liquid and gas measurement applications, this base unit provides the structural housing and backplane connectivity for all associated processor and I/O modules. It is the starting point for building a versatile and high-accuracy flow computing solution.
The S600+ builds upon the proven success of its predecessor, incorporating a more powerful main processor and enhanced memory capabilities. The base unit chassis is constructed from painted, welded steel with a plastic front panel, offering durability and an IP50 rating from the front to protect against dust and debris in industrial environments. Its design facilitates easy access to internal components for maintenance and configuration.
Key Features and Capabilities
Panel-Mount Design: Engineered for standard panel cutouts (66 mm W by 150 mm H), allowing seamless integration into existing control room infrastructure.
Multi-Stream Support: Supports up to ten streams with optional expansion modules, making it suitable for complex metering applications involving gas, crude oil, refined products, LPG, and NGLs.
Enhanced Processing Power: Accommodates the new CPU with a hardware floating-point processor for faster calculations, minimizing uncertainty and maximizing control performance.
Expansion Capability: Provides slots for two additional expansion modules (P144, P154, or P188), allowing customization for specific application needs such as HART communication or prover interfaces.
The 8176003 base unit is designed with future-proofing in mind. Its architecture ensures full backward compatibility with existing S600 configurations, protecting previous capital investments while delivering the benefits of increased processing power and memory. This allows facilities to upgrade their systems with minimal downtime and without the need for extensive retraining on new configuration tools. The unit also features a dedicated configuration port for connection to the Config600 software suite.
In terms of physical characteristics, the base unit measures 84.5 mm in width, 270 mm in height, and 303.8 mm in depth, weighing approximately 4.3 kg with a single I/O module configuration. This compact footprint makes it ideal for space-constrained installations while still offering the robust connectivity required for modern flow measurement networks.
