Eaton FD3150KW Molded Case Circuit Breaker (3150A)

The Eaton FD3150KW is a large‑frame molded case circuit breaker designed for heavy‑duty power distribution applications. With a continuous current rating of 3150 A at 600 VAC, it is commonly used as a main disconnect in switchboards, panelboards, and industrial control panels. The breaker incorporates a thermal‑magnetic trip unit that provides both overload and short‑circuit protection, ensuring reliable operation and selectivity in low‑voltage networks.

Protection Characteristics

The thermal element uses a bimetal strip that responds to prolonged overcurrents, providing time‑inverse protection against overloads. The magnetic element reacts instantaneously to short‑circuit currents above the adjustable threshold. This two‑stage protection ensures that minor overloads are tolerated for short periods, while severe faults are cleared rapidly to minimize damage.
