The OMRON FND-X06H is a positioning driver designed for the FND series of servo systems. This unit provides precise position control for automation equipment such as pick-and-place machines, indexing tables, and small assembly robots. The driver receives positioning commands from a PLC or host controller and drives a servo motor to the commanded position with high accuracy.
The FND-X06H operates on a 200V AC power supply and is rated for up to 600W output power. The driver accepts step-and-direction or CW/CCW pulse inputs at frequencies up to 200 kHz. It features a built-in positioning controller with up to 64 positioning points that can be stored internally and selected via I/O signals. The driver includes a 13-bit serial encoder interface for closed-loop feedback. The current output is 3.0 A continuous, 6.0 A peak. The driver dimensions are 150 mm wide, 220 mm high, and 150 mm deep. The operating temperature range is 0°C to 50°C.
The FND-X06H supports three control modes: position control, speed control, and torque control. In position mode, the driver uses pulse train commands to move the motor to precise locations. Speed mode accepts an analog voltage (±10V) to set motor speed. Torque mode also uses analog voltage for torque reference. The driver includes auto-tuning of PID gains and a built-in notch filter for mechanical resonance suppression. The unit provides electronic gearing for scaling input pulses to motor revolutions.
The driver has 8 digital inputs (24V DC) for functions such as servo-on, alarm reset, and position selection. It provides 5 digital outputs (open collector) for ready, alarm, and positioning completion. An RS-232C port allows connection to a PC for parameter setting and monitoring. The driver also supports analog monitor outputs for motor speed and torque. The front panel includes a 7-segment LED display for status and error codes, and push-buttons for manual operation.

The FND-X06H is suitable for small precision positioning applications such as semiconductor handling equipment, small CNC machines, laboratory automation, and packaging machinery. The driver is often paired with OMRON's FND series servo motors (e.g., FND-06H motor) to form a complete servo system. The internal positioning memory allows operation without a dedicated motion controller, reducing system cost.
The driver should be mounted vertically in a control cabinet with adequate ventilation. The power wiring must be sized appropriately for the current rating. The motor cable should be shielded and the shield grounded at both ends. The driver includes overcurrent, overvoltage, and overload protection. Periodic inspection of cooling fan and capacitors is recommended. Replacement parts are available through OMRON distributors. The driver is no longer in active production but is supported for existing installations.
